World World Event - Spelunk

    This would be a diet version of lootrun's spelunk challenge, which would work with parties.
    Treat it as a timed race.

    Since this world event would reset all chest cooldowns of caves, maybe it should occur less often.

    The world event grants limited amount of time to complete as many caves as possible for all party members.
    At the beginning of world event, an empty treasure chest spawns, and players scatter to clear caves.

    In addition to standard loot, opening Cave chests will grant 1-3 treasure coins (depending on chest tier).
    When all chests were opened in a cave, additional 2-8 treasure coins are granted (depending on dungeon's length).

    These treasure coins must be deposited into the empty chest at world event's spot.
    The more treasure coins party members collect, the greater the rewards will be at the end of the event.



    The world event could last around 3 minutes, and the chest cooldown could be up to 1 minute.
    Not sure of the math formula to use for end rewards so that it suits both solo and any party size.

    world events are supposed to just be waves of enemies

    Elaborate? My point was that world events can be expanded on, rather than being simply just killing target mobs, it's obviously going to work in a different way.


    But why be limited to that? Isn't it fun to make more event types, rather than just doing same mob waves over and over 24/7? People out there want multiplayer lootruns, aren't world events a good starting ground for that?

    Then what would be good?

    World events are pretty much lootrun's "kill target mobs" challenge, why wouldn't that make sense?

    Because world events require you to show up a specific time, and they're set to specific locations. What you are asking for is a completely different system to world events.

    But my suggestion did take the specific time into account - people just assemble at the same world event spot, the event starts, and then everyone scatters to spelunk. Each time they spelunk, they go to the original world event start spot to deposit treasure, and then spelunk other caves afterwards, up until the timer ticks to zero.

    There are of course better ways to execute that, my main point is that the World Events could host more different challenges that can mimic Lootrun, they don't have to be limited to slay target mobs. I'd be happy to hear other ideas

    How often do you see other people actually group up to do a world event as opposed to just doing them solo? People don't actually plan around world events, and it's not the easiest thing ever to get a group going with people you aren't already friends with or guild mates with. Plus, why would we want to add content that just steps on the shoes of lootrunning? People already complain about the repetition of doing the same caves in lootruns, why add more content that just focuses on those same caves??

    Sorry I am not sure what you mean by people grouping up for lootrun, what did you mean?


    How does it step on the shoes of lootrunning exactly? The world event doesn't have the big lootrun reward pool, and it's entirely a separate beast on its own with the boons/curses/challenges.

    The world event could always be adjusted to spawn rarely to make it special for players.
    It can be like a fun little race amongst other people where you challenge yourself with knowing all cave layouts and shortcuts.

    A fair point, there would be less burden of implementation since a world event can just reuse the existing assets of the game without having to spend tons of time making new areas and similar.
    People already like assembling for world events, yet they are also repetitive and the same. The multiplayer aspect makes this fun (or even solo is fine, it's once again a "race" type of world event that challenges your knowledge)

    Why not go further? Why not give world events more types of challenges, similar to lootruns?
