Game Mechanics Scrolls cn be used at 0 Charges, but it consumes them

    I just had this small idea that when a scroll is at 0 charges instead of being unusable you can still use it but it instead gets consumed.

    The message could be something like "The scroll burns away from lack of charges."

    Why would this be in the game?

    1. It allows players to use scrolls even if they used up all charges. This very rarely happens but it can still happen an in that case it would be a risk = reward mechanic.
    2. Money sink. If a player choses to use up their scroll they will need to buy it again. This creates a small money sink for the game.
    3. This creates a use for getting more scrolls from sources like Seaskipper and Forgery thus removing the need to remove these from the game.

    It's not a bad idea... but kind of redundant as a money-sink when re-identifying items, repairing crafted items and tools, and restocking on potions exists. It's also a risk that is easily mitigated by waiting 10 minutes, and you would be warping into a town where you just buy a new scroll anyway... The Seaskipper's there to get some lore bits from locations you travel to. Each scroll for each different locations' charges are also linked, and are listed at different prices (if the wiki's up to date...).

    There's already a level of risk involved in having loads of crafting ingredients and no scroll charges when you're in a particularly dangerous area, or getting lost in a new discovery. If anything, the scroll being a guaranteed use at 0 charges turns a potentially tense 10-minute wait into, "ah, I found this spot I can be safe in for 3 seconds" and you're away, whether your scroll burns up in the process or not. Of course, you can always just do /connect, get up for 10 minutes and avoid the danger that way, too... The wait is there to take you out of the loop intentionally, in my eyes.

    This would also be super convenient for people who maybe stocked up on a few dozen or hundred Detlas scrolls prior to them having infinite uses. Maybe.

    That said, I like the idea of limiting scroll use; it forces the payer or interact with and experience the world in a way that they simply don't when they just teleport from place to place. It also invalidates a lot of other fast travel options. I almost like the idea of having scrolls just be consumed, period, to encourage people to use other travel options (not dissimilar to how they were prior to the soul point removal), but that's a topic for another thread.

    How are you guys playing that you use up all three scroll charges in 10 minutes and then need more that fast?

    Usually doing world events and getting stuff.
    This doesn't happen always but it does happen.
    And waiting isn't an issue, but the usggestion is an alternative to waiting.

    When I'm outside the Molten Heights doing Infernal Caldera, typing /kill does nothing to bring me to Lutho faster to head to Incomprehensible Cynosure. Or to Despermech Occupation in Corkus.
