    Hello there,

With Distant Horizons getting closer to its stable release and now supporting server-side rendering (for both Fabric and Bukkit-based servers), I believe this would be a fantastic addition to enhance immersion. With all chunks preloaded for anyone joining with Distant Horizons, the world would feel more seamless and alive.

Distant Horizons already makes Wynncraft look absolutely stunning, but having to load all chunks manually across updates can sometimes be a bit tedious.

I genuinely think adding server-side support for Distant Horizons would be an amazing improvement, and I’d love to see how much more immersive it could make the server!

I cannot link to the Distant Horizons Beta 2.3 video, but I highly recommend anyone to look it up!

    Kind regards,
    Bram

Can Distant Horizons be used in unison with Bobby? I imagine that once chunks are cached, they could then be rendered in LOD afterwards once at designated range.

I think both mods can be used next to each other, but without them explicitly adding support, I don't see how they currently can make use of each other's features. Though server side support, as demonstrated in the latest showcase video, is extremely beneficial, as it also supports updating LODs, without you having to revisit the chunk, since the server updates them for you.

Hoping I'd be proved wrong but I imagine the only issue with this is that DH needs a server running a compatible version and pretty sure Wynn's backend is still on their modified 1.8.9 so it's likely incompatible with the new DH versions

That's the kind of thing I was worried about... from what I know about Bobby, it's completely client-side and will just load all of the chunks you have cached as they're rendered. Distant Horizons without receiving any LOD chunks from the server becomes a client-side mod, which, in theory, could use the chunk-caching feature Bobby provides without any support from the server itself.

The thing about this that'd suck is that you would probably need to redownload the same chunks from different server fragments over and over and over; if you cached chunks from NA1, you might not be able to use them in NA2. I could be wrong, though.

I am not sure what version Wynncraft is running for its backend. I somehow highly doubt it's still 1.8, but I could be wrong of course!

Hence, it's so important that server-side support gets added. That way, anyone using Distant Horizons instantly gets all the already rendered LODs, which will be great in terms of immersion.

Seeing Wynn as an actual open world MMO game would be absoluely stunning, I can imagine being a new player stepping onto the Emerald Trail and seeimg the vast expanse ahead of you.
That'd be like a Breath of the Wild moment.

Are they really using 1.8.9? I could swear I've seen blocks from 1.21

I would like this addition to wynncraft. I doubt it would happen. I don't know how Distant Horizons works but I can't imagine the data usage is small.
