Ever since Wynncraft updated to 1.20 , we can finally have netherite armor. What armor should be netherite? It can be simple, like making all lvl 101+ armor have the netherite look (for 0 extra gameplay effect) or have the limited number of mythical armor there is be netherite (also for 0 gameplay effect).

Why? Armor in wynncraft changes every 20 lvls, so diamond changing to netherite for the very few armor pieces that are above 101+ shouldn't disrupt anything but make high level players look stronger.

Obv shadow ornate armor isn't diamond armor, so it should be fine not changing it.

The only thing I don't know is if this will break items, or if this is already in the works.

We’ll wait for Wynncraft’s internals to leave 1.12.2 first

But after that I don’t see why not

This'll probably happen, but it'll almost definitely get retextured and called something and be called something other than netherite.

i mean the nether portal and nether are 1000% canon so i don’t see why they shouldn’t be called netherite tbh. it’s not like the nether hasn’t been canon for half a decade. but then if we wear netherite does that mean we serve dern?

I suggest calling netherite Adamant(ine/ite/ium). Although, if you start digging around in the etymology, Adamant would be a better term for diamond armor, and makes a lot more sense actually. In that case, you could call netherite...

    ...

    hrr...
    • Mithril??
    • Orichalc(um)??
    • Steel?
    • Blacksteel???
    • Noxite?
    • Umbrium??
    • Cinnabar? (If you turned it red)
    • Azurite? (If you turned it blue)
    • Tyrium? (If you turned it purple)
    • Bellorite/Bellum/Bellium/etc. (replacing 'Nether' with a root for 'war')
Aagh. I don't know what you'd call a blackish metal.

Im just gonna process of elmination you...

    Adamtium is already used (https://wynncraft.wiki.gg/wiki/Adamantite)
mithril has far too many fantasy connotations already
    steel is used already (morph-steel)
Blacksteel...why is it so much stronger than steel if its just darker
Noxite-This one sounds not too bad, but just doesnt seem right, seems like it should be toxic or something
    Umbrium-I dont mind this
Cinnabar-GOD NO, who comes up in their most intimidating battle gear, wearing a CINNAMON BAR
Azurite-it feels like we already have precious gems in the game, as distinct from gear
    Tyrium-sure ig
Bellorite/Bellium-this is my favorite. We shouldnt lean too hard into the War/nether thing, as its not like we are wearing corrupt armor, but I really like the name and the subtle etymology

    Overall, Bellium/Bellorite is my favorite,
Umbrium and Tyrium are also OK
    Blacksteel is fine if necessary
the other ones just dont sound right at all

Adamantium might be used, but Adamantite isn't. Of all the metals it fits the most, being a mythical metal of impossible strength and durability

I'm surprised you connected Cinnabar to, like, cinnamon, instead of actual cinnabar. (It could be a good item name.)

So, adamantium and bellum/bellium (bellum sounds better but is also literally just 'war') would be new names for netherite. Seems fine.

lol, i know what cinnabar is, but it SOUNDS like cinnamon bar. also its more of a gemstone than a material. Cinnabar as an item name does seem based, I'll ask an IM about it.

of all of those, umbrium (or some variation) is the only one i think would work well (adamant would be too confusing (like a gold chestplate ironite)) For most, basically what tzel said (though i don't like the sound of bellorite/bellum/bellium, partially because they just sound bad to me and partially because bellum reminds me of cerebellum)

Since lvl 103-105 armor is crafted using dernic ingots, why can't it simply be dernic armor?

    Because of a few reasons:
    • After A Journey Further, the player is the only person with any presence in the world who knows about the SE or Dern. Everyone else is dead, gone, or doesn't really interact with the world. Nobody knows about Dern, basically, and it wouldn't make any sense for armors of that level to be called Dernic armor.
    • Secondly, Netherite armor skins definitely would not only be used for the 100-105 range. Remember, Fruma's coming up, and every armor you'd get there would be Netherite. Armor types apply for 20-level ranges, and Fruma goes up to level 120 or 125, so every armor from Fruma would be 'Dernic'. Dernic armor only really makes sense if it's actually from Dern or the SE.
Think I've figured out why I thought of it. (It's boots.)
