I know that skin based armor is not coming back anytime soon, but I do miss the variety and unique quality it offered the armor in Wynncraft. Having the same looking armor for 20+ levels is a little boring, don't get me wrong I love the textures we have for armor, they're incredible. However, I was thinking with the addition of armor trims into vanilla minecraft it opens the door for potentially hundreds of unique armor designs.

These could be done in a formulaic way having the color of the trim correspond to the rarity of the armor; red for fabled, aqua for legendary, etc. But this is Wynncraft we're talking about, we don't have to play by minecrafts rules and I know the content team can cook up some excellent textures. I don'tt know how texture packs store armor trim files, but I think there is room for a lot of creativity no matter how the texture files are stored (they're probably kept as overlay colors and cutouts that get added, but I haven't looked).

Designs could be region dependant or only offered by dungeon merchants, allowing for a unique look into the cultures and history of the varying peoples of the Wynncraft realms. armor you get from the Llevigar plains would look different from the armor get from in the snowy forests of Nesaak. I know that this would be a huge undertaking if implemented but the payoff would be worth it. If this were done for even just higher tier armors I think the impact would be great, especially for armor sets. Right now they don't feel like they go together, sure they have similar stats and stat bonuses, but looks that go good together would add extra oomf that they need(please make leather armor sets be in color(not just relic armor)).

There are 11 armor trim patterns and 10 colors in the minecraft texture pack and 5 types of armor in wynncraft currently(Netherite(hopefully not called that) coming in Fruma???) and 6 rarities(I'm excluding common because I don't think it should have a trim). Alternatively, it might be possible to flip armor and armor trims, to give us 10 types of armor and 12 trims(the 11 + 1 for no trim) in 6 colors (thousands with dyed leather). Although I am not super sure if this method would even work.

So yeah. More armor looks and how they could be implemented. I am crossing my fingers that Salted's recent posting looking for pixel artists is for this(devs, if I'm right please tell me, the ego boost would cause me to ascend to godhood).

Ok but the server isn't 1.20..? Sure, we're planning to update past 1.12 soon, but that doesn't mean we're going to just be able to hop to the latest version.

Also a lot of armor just isn't region specific, trims based on location wouldn't work because you can get the same gear in Llevigar Plains as you can in Nesaak Tundra

Also it's not coming back at all, Mojang literally told Wynncraft to cut it out

IF the server ever became 1.20 and added armor trims, I agree that they would be really cool to add and would bring in more variety lategame. I think they should be based from raids and other lategame activities. Possibly from lootruns aswell?

As other people have said, if it were ever updated to 1.20, this would be really cool, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The server actually still runs on 1.8 unless I'm sorely mistaken, but has been so heavily modified and had so many compatibility features added you can't actually play it on that. I don't see them updating it to a new version of Minecraft anytime soon.

it runs on 1.12. I play 1.12 because my computer cannot handle any other versions without overheating in 10 minutes, and that's with my room temp being 15. Yes, I have to turn my room into a freezer just to play WC

1.12 is the earliest supported version (and also the only one that doesn't give me terrible lag), but I'm pretty sure the actual server is still running on 1.8. Quite a long while back they mentioned that updating off of it would be a major headache, and while I haven't heard anything since, I don't think there's any reason to believe that has changed.

Could they not use colored leather armour and use the resource pack to make it look cool/more variety?
