Digging would be a small "side activity" that would serve one main purpose: to facilitate "mystery hunts" like ???.
It would also let player get a little bit of loot while doing so.
To start, you need a Shovel. There are 4 shovels you can obtain:
-Wooden Shovel. Can dig every 10 seconds. Loot: 95/4/1/0. Obtained from Tool Merchants for 4 EB (it doesn't break, so it's worth it.)
-Time-Hardened Shovel. Can dig every 5 seconds. Loot: 90/6/3/1. Obtained from Timelost Sanctum for 1 Wooden Shovel and 10 Timelost Sanctum Fragments.
-Corrupted Shovel. Can dig every 2 seconds. Loot: 85/10/3.5/1.5. Obtained from Corrupted Lost Sanctuary for 1 Sturdy Shovel and 10 Corrupted Lost Sanctuary Fragments.
-Corkian Shovel. Can dig every second. Loot: 80/10/7/3. Obtained from Fallen Factory for 1 Advanced Shovel and 10 Fallen Factory Fragments.
All shovels are untradable. (It would also be cool if the ones above Wooden had lore!)

What does loot: W/X/Y/Z mean? When you dig a block that does not contain a Secret (more on those later!), you have a W% chance to find nothing (maybe with some flavor text), a X% chance to find Common Loot (healing potions, 1-16 emeralds, and T1 powders), a Y% chance to find Good Loot (stat/mana potions, 16-64 emeralds, and T2-T3 powders), and a Z% chance to find Excellent Loot (64-256 emeralds, T4-T5 powders, and Unique to Legendary (no Fabled or Mythic!) unided items of your level -10 (min 1.) (All of these would have flavor text as well.) To prevent players from mindlessly clicking with a Shovel all day, the probability of getting each loot tier above Nothing decreases by 0.1% every 25 digs, but increases by 0.5% (up to the maximum for that shovel) every hour.

Now, about Secrets. Once every week, or month, or whenever they feel like it, the CT would release a cryptic clue. This could be a screenshot, a line or two of text, or some other hint. This hint would point to some coordinates on the world map (perhaps indirectly, for example a clue could point players to talk to a dwarf, who talks about seismic disturbances on a mountain, and on that mountain is a Dogun who only appears to players with Seismic Chaps on and hints towards the disturbance at [insert coordinates here], or a image of an eye-shaped rock formation could lead players to find the average coordinates of it and three other eye shapes to dig at [insert other coordinates here]. ) Players may also need to satisfy certain conditions while digging.

The Secrets could be rated on a difficulty from Unique to Mythic, where Unique is a day or two to solve whereas Mythic might take months for the community to solve. The rewards for solving would probably be a crate/crates of various tiers, or a special cosmetic for Fabled/Mythic Secrets. Only the first few (1-100, based on the difficulty) would receive this reward. Leaking the solution before all the rewards have been claimed might get your post deleted and you temporarily muted, or nothing at all, up to the mods.

TLDR: Dig using new items to find loot and follow clues to dig up special cosmetics.

No reason not to imo besides taking up some dev time. What does the Loot:80/10/7/5 thing mean though? Also I don't think there should be any punishment for mindlessly clicking blocks (as weird as that might sound), itd be like if durability couldn't come back at all and instead is regenerated over a day for prof tools.

also this might just be a me thing but t1-3 powders are worthless and barely serve any value to the endgame. maybe move them to common loot instead of uncommon loot and replace it with t4 (maybe also t5?) powders, and include t6 powders as a rare reward.

Overall, aside from some minor tweaking, +1

The powders can be combined, but that is still a useful change (especially with loot decay). The Loot: l/n/m/o is described later on, and the decay is so players don't set up macros!

Ah, I didn't notice that, I am big idiot stupidhead.

Macros being a defense for decay, while understandable, a better option imo would be making a grid of blocks unable to be shoveled up (maybe every block within 10 blocks of where a block was digged?) so that way its at least not entirely mindlessly clicking blocks.

I feel like only certain spots or areas should be diggable. It will make digging feel like a profession, but it will be a kind of profession that anyone can get into, including new players. It could be a nice "introductory profession" that can show players what the craftsman life feels like.

    What do you think?

I think devs should add more secrets to the game, but digging system in mid. It is just clicking blocks. I'm a fan of side activities but more like zhing Island, charmcrafter merchant or other fun minigames but I don't want it to be main source of emeralds, only custom items woud be good, but this is not challenging at all just grind.

Ok but, why? What would this serve in game? This just feels like another profession
And no...? We want to focus most steampower on Fruma, and this would take up way more than just dev time, especially if "custom cosmetics" are added. This poster is suggesting that every so often we'd add a new mystery to the game, which is just so much unnecessary time making NPCs and bugtesting and building for something that does not really add anything to the game.
I don't really think this would have a place in Wynncraft, so it's a hard Nope from me.
