World The Province of Darkness

This rough suggestion thread was made because of the deletion of the previous Dern province suggestion thread, and I want to throw out my rough idea of an Olmic province. Since Olmic settlements are usually found on the southern side of Wynn, leading me to believe that there should be a province to the south where the Olms came from. Considering that Gavel is the province of Light where the Light Portal is, this southern province must be a province of Darkness. I chose the name "Derne" since there are Olmic settlements in Dernel, which I can't help but relate to the name "Dern". Therefore, the province most likely also has at least a place that is also named after Dern, and I intentionally chose the simplest one by simply removing the "l" from "Dernel". Other names may also be valid though, such as "Dernes", "Dernem", "Derna", "Dernas", and "Dernam".

I fully expect the person to do the thing.

Description:

The province of darkness, Derne (pronounced der-ne), is a province on the south side of the continent where is Wynn is located, and is the homeland of the race that were known as the Olms. The province has two major landmasses on the west and east, separated by an ocean, comprising three major regions in total.

The name of the province was not originally Derne, as it was the name of the old Olmic capital city. It was originally also called Wynn. However, to differentiate from modern Wynn, and in remembrance of the old capital, people started calling the whole province Derne.

West Derne, close to Fruma and Dernel, is inhabited by the descendants of the Olm. The major city there currently makes heavy use of magical teleporters, showing their acquaintance with spatial magic, and is very much a thriving city. Before the closing of Fruma's gates, the city had good relations with Fruma, and this is when the teleport spell was passed onto Fruma's mages. After the fall of Derne City, the city became the new capital, but since Fruma also closed its gates, the city has not seen many visitors since then.
Suggested Level: 80~120

The Dernean Ocean separates the two major regions of Derne, and is an uncalm ocean ever since the opening of the Darkness Portal. This ocean is not fully explored, and its islands, under the influence of the Darkness, seem to phase in and out of existence.
Suggested Level: 110~130

East Derne, close to the Darkness Portal, is a place that is mostly uninhabited by civilizations and where creatures of the Darkness thrive, much like the Silent Expanse. Before the opening of the Darkness Portal, this region was where most Olms lived, and contained the old Olmic capital, Derne City. After the opening of the Darkness Portal 1000 years ago, creatures of the Darkness, under the command of the Dern Beast, expelled and wiped out nearly all civilization in the area, including Derne City, leaving only Olmic ruins. This triggered a mass migration into modern day West Derne and Wynn. In the current day, there are two "major" settlements on East Derne. One is a small village much like Lutho, also supported by an obelisk of Light. Another settlement is a recent one, situated on the coast of East Derne, aimed as an entrance for explorers who wish to recover what was lost in the ruins.

The realm of darkness is not a province. If corkus isn’t then dern definitely isnt

 

If you actually read the suggestion, you would see that Derne, the province of Darkness, is not Dern, the realm of Darkness.

 

Ie especiallye likee thee namee ofe thee prowincee

 

This has the same energy as, “I’m not Sonic, I’m my own original character Blonic! *Do not steal*”

 

Maybe, but the point here is that I'm not suggesting Dern the realm itself as a province. The name of the province doesn't actually really matter but would be optimal if it's a variation on Dern as Dernel exists.

 

It would be preferable if you posted this in Your Work as opposed to Constructive Feedback, which is dedicated to content you think we should add to the game. It's not in the scope of things for us to suddenly wedge a whole new expansion into the game, especially one that no lore ties into.

Though The Silent Expanse is not a true Province, it functions as the opposite of Gavel. You might say "but!! Gavel is so large and the Silent Expanse is so small!!" and to that I suggest you read up on the lore of The Nameless Anomaly, which suggests that SE was at some point larger but has had parts removed from reality

The dark eroded at what it wished to claim, voraciously consuming the crumbling pieces. The holes left behind, devoid of physicality and presence, twist upon themselves.
Gaps in reality, bridging realms in the subtlest of ways. Only fools could name the aftermath as subtle- paradoxes, stealing existence under the banner of dark greed.
These gaps grow, inexorably, and encroach upon one another. What is overlapped returns to a world unseen and alien- Less than what used to be taken, but taken all the same.

 

The person did the thing

This is still an actual suggestion as I'd like an expansion to the map before Dern is added. The works section is not where suggestions go.
Suggestions, most of the time, are to provide the CT with ideas, and not to be flawlessly executed.

There is no explicit lore connections to a southern province, sure, but what I'm hoping one would explain are: who the Olms are, where did the Olms go, how the Lusuco shipwreck came to be, and why the name "Dernel".
I do not think a large province of Darkness would conflict with the TNA lore.
