Game Mechanics Reputation - A random dumb idea I had that many other RPG's implement.

You've heard it all now eh? "Add reputation to wynncraft." What was I thinking. (For the record, I haven't even put my thoughts down yet)

Ok, so, I know Salted said give general ideas, but I wanna flesh it out so my sanity remains under scrutiny.

Reputation points could be granted for stuff on forums, as well as awarded ingame by other players, NPCs, or the game as it sees fit. They probably shouldnt have any ingame significance, but who knows. With the emergence of quest options it might be possible to lock certain paths behind reputation.

Possible benefits:
Scammers aren't able to scam as easily
There is an actual reason to be active in the community and be well known
An actual reason to talk to non quest NPCs
A reason to do insane challenges and/or sane ones like HIC
A reason to add ingame leaderboards for any/everything
A reason to participate in festivals after you have already done everything once

Probable downsides:
This would probably get abused to hecc even if rate limited
Toxicity would probably show its head
Other things my prof rattled brain can't think of rn

I think this would fit the MMO and RPG aspects of Wynn nicely but I have no opinion further than that.

wynncraft popularity contest

 

I'm confused, is this a suggestion for like a popularity ranking or an RPG reputation system. They aren't the samething, and one of them I find often brings toxicity and the other doesn't quite work with Wynncraft, or at least until the dialogue system is highly used and brought to most quests.

 

Basically yeah. Neither option I provided currently work with Wynn but during Salted's interview he said the team prefers broad suggestions they can expand upon so this is just a random thought that the team can expand upon if they want to
