Arcanist buff idea

    Ok i am a mage main so i have a bit of experience

    The main problem with arcanist is this:
    It loses heal and give hardly anything in return

    Riftwalker is superior to Arcanist anaway in every way as
    It buffs spells
    Has heal
    spamablity to a lesser extent with time lock

    so here's what i thought

    new perk
    'Arcane healing' (red perk)
    (arcane overflow is a yellow perk and is before manastorm)
    Upon casting acrane trasfer with 150 mana bank, heal 10% of your max health for 30 mana spent in the last 3 seconds (up to 40%) and gain a damage reduction (20%) for 10 seconds after

    this is is NOT aoe heal, just a self-sustain like intoxicating blood

    welcome to constructive criticism (tell ways this can be abused and how to minimize it)

    yes this is 100% needed, just that two other people have made similar ideas lol including me

    arcane resistance: (made by i forgot) after reaching full mana bank get x resistance

    arcane shield: after reaching full mana bank get a quickly regenerating shield that stays on until mana bank is used

    I've been wondering when someone was gonna suggest something like this.... I think this would be great for Arcanist sustain since it doesn't make them busted. This ability would definitely need to be far far down the tree with a high minimum Arcanist requirement just to make it worthwhile to go down the Arcanist route.

    Also add a poll!

    I think someone said once that the meteor upgrade that shoots a meteor directly from you (psychokinesis i think?) is supposed to be used to directly hit mobs due to how its functionality works (always the same time to hit a block no matter the distance), so why not reward players with a damage bonus similar to heart shatter?

    I like the sheild idea. But the name reminds me of an ability from a different game that would be really cool. (The game is called hero's of hammer watch, the ability is called divine protection)

    Whenever you get hit you loose mana instead of health, so long as you are above a certain amount.

    All this shield stuff is cool but I don’t think it really fits what arcanist is intended to be, which is high dmg burst

    hopefully it gets a buff soon

    You have not used arcanist have you. Arcane transfer is not "hardly anything" it's really strong when used correctly- especially with chaos explosion.
    Arcanist does not need healing. Just build sustain like literally any other class.

    CT (GMs specifically) don't touch the Ability Tree, only admins can so its more then likely possible just unlikely to happen since i don't think they want to go about restructing the ability tree

    i have used it, and yes it does seem strong, (mind you im a lvl 84 mage) but fighting thunder hive boss it lasted halfway, riftbender brought it down to 33%ish or lower health, i just think that arcanist needs a little bit more damage or one of these abilities

    A mage using pots? Blasphemy!

    Anyway... unless an Archanist can compete with the high dps of other classes it is not really worth it, which I have yet to see. I play mage for the free burst heal (and teleport). If I want to dps, I would just play another class.

    I still think a sheild would be cool on mage overall. Maybe replace manastorm? Or give manastorm a resistance buff on top?

    I personally believe that instead of giving arcanist more survivability (except something small that gives more lifesteal), it needs a big damage buff at least to where it can be equal to or out dps Riftwalker at full winded, and on the more ambitious end compete with Battle Monk, Sharpshooter, etc

    yeah i think all of this is just an overcomplicated (although interesting) way of buffing arcanist when you could just up the dps

    Arcanist definitely needs a bit more in exchange for what you're giving up, but I rather like how it trades heal for more damage potential. I'd rather see it get more damage buffs or some spell changes to make it a bit more unique and worth the trade-off. That said a minor self-healing ability like this would be kind of nice to have in your arsenal, while not being an easy on-demand heal like other archetypes have.
