Quest The "???" Quest

Well, hello there everyone.
I have recently had the... pleasure of having to go through the quest "???".
This quest, simply put, was a waste of my and everyone around me's time.

Firstly, the lore.
This is perhaps the only redeeming quality of the quest - the lore was fun to piece together, and in the end, it was quite fascinating.
That's about it for the good parts of the quest.
Now on to the... unpleasant parts of the quest (of which there are several).

Finding a party took me just under two hours, during which time I managed to level up twice by doing other quests. This is, put bluntly, ridiculous. Most people don't even have that much time to take out of their day, even on a weekend, and finding players for a quest shouldn't take this long.
However, I understand the reasoning behind the players taking a while - the quest is highly unpleasant to play through.

For one thing, this quest forces you to use the Wiki or some other sort of outside knowledge, lest you spend weeks looking for a way to advance in the quest. I was unlucky enough to not understand anything about this quest going in, and spent thirteen hours in total searching for a way to start it.
Eventually, some kind soul explained to me that the quest requires multiple players, and someone needs to know what they're doing in order for the quest to function.

Even Raids, Wynncraft's most multiplayer-required content, don't require the Wiki (or someone who's completed the quest several times).

The ??? quest is not new-player friendly - nay, in fact, it actively punishes players who are just trying to figure it out by wasting their time.
I understand how, originally, this quest must've been incredibly exciting to play through, but now that it's been "solved", it's just a waste of several hours.
I need not document all the trials and tribulations that come with attempting to complete this quest - it took just about 50 minutes to complete, not even counting the two hours it took to find the party (one thing I will say about it is that it has Temple of the Legends-esq quest requirements - one of the players was forced to leave and go do a quest so that "???" could continue).

All in all, the quest is a loredump that could be done in a very short period of time, when instead it takes hours to complete.

It's an optional quest that was designed to be a mystery to start, progress through, and complete

 

While I understand this, perhaps there could be some way of stating the "optional-ness" of the quest - as a new player myself, I didn't realize this until the quest had already started.

 

Technically all quests are optional, so it's kinda hard to specifically state whether or not a quest is "required", because that definition is subjective

 

This is a fair point - I suppose a better suggestion would be to somehow indicate the level of difficulty of the quest (and while quests do have length indicators, "???" takes much longer than, for example, WynnExcavation Site D, despite them both being "Long" quests.
