Quest Hero of Gavel

Hi, I've been doing the quest "Hero of Gavel" and have encountered an issue in which near the end, it seems like all the items I hold are bugged and not accepted by the NPC?

Stage I'm at:
"Find a way to escape through the skylight at the end of the cave"
Gurix seems to stand there and is not interactable and the lava pool cannot be activated?

I've switched lobbies, retriggered the quest using the book and /kill.
I've done this over the course of a week.

So end result I cannot escape and I'm getting desperate :/
