since this server uses a different time zone than me it would be cool to be able to change it, allowing for quests to be completed on the day they are given

The server uses UTC+0:00 as the basis for its days. For example, daily challenges reset at midnight in the UK, or at 8pm in New York, United States during daylight savings time, or at 9am in Japan). Currently, players who don't live in the UTC+0:00 time zone have part of one day and part of the next day to complete daily challenges (e.g., people from the New York example have nighttime of one day and everything except nighttime of the next day). If players could set their own time zone, then they'll have the entirety of one of their own days to do daily challenges--or anything else that lasts for one day (like Festival "quests").

Might as well make it a single player game at that point. I understand your reasoning, but it doesn't make sense for this game (a semi-persistent MMO) in my opinion.

I disagree with the suggestion, but I felt the suggestion deserved a better explanation.

it's actually pretty annoying when it's around noon and your daily objective suddenly resets, it makes daily objectives significantly harder since you affectively have to finish it in half a day.

It's two halves a day: the afternoon of one day and the morning of the next, which is just as long as the morning and afternoon of the same day. If you normally only have half a day to finish, then changing the time zone won't change that.

It is even worse when you imagine that it can change not in the middle of the night or day but in the afternoon or evening, when people usually play. You are in the middle of the objective and suddenly it resets.

You can adapt to that, though, since the time at which it resets stays the same (except when the place where you live normally changes the time, such as Daylight Savings). If it normally takes you your entire play session to do the daily objective, then you should start the daily objective one day, finish it the next day, and start the next daily objective wherever it shows up. If it only takes you five minutes, then start it sooner in your play session or get it done the day before. That's not a big problem unless you make it one.

That being said, one benefit of the proposed change is that it allows a bit more flexibility in when play sessions occur. For example, if the daily objectives reset at noon for me and my pet dragon lets me play either 11:00–11:50 or 12:10–1:00 each day, then I'll miss my daily objective every time one day is the morning option and the next day is the afternoon option. Setting my time zone would fix that.
