    It sure has been a while.

    Which would be a monumental task but I do like and support the idea ignoring that fact (if I was an Item Maker I'd be willing because I spend way too much of my life class building anyway)

    Would be awesome if instead of scaling the mana regen number by 5 it just turned old 1/5s mana regen into 1/1s mana regen

    It might be a good idea, but it's a separate discussion. Scaling mana recovery doesn't contribute to the aim of the suggestion.

    It wouldn’t solve the problem of there being too few benchmarks of intelligence that actually decrease the spell cost.

    You want spell costs to be less discrete. Making mana regen more consistent doesn't make spell costs less discrete, so it doesn't help. Something like 2/1s mana regen might make mana recovery less swingy and more gradual compared to 10/5s, but it doesn't change the fact that you need to hit something specific like 105int or 129int to make the spell costs usable.

    I think Dr Zed shares this view but misquoted.
