Game Mechanics Trade market QOL change

When a player is buying an item on the trade market, set the default amount of items they want to buy to 1, instead of the entire stock.

Imagine this scenario: You want to buy a single teleport scroll to Troms, so you open up the trade market, search "Troms teleport scroll," and open the trading menu for the scrolls. You skim over all of the numbers, and everything looks good, so you hit the checkmark, but wait... when you go to claim your scroll, you realize that you've bought the entire stock by accident! You break out into a panic and run over to the bank to see if your money is still there, but it's a fraction of what it used to be...

That was me, a few months ago. I quit for a while, devastated by the amount of LE I lost, until recently, when the free bonfire crates pulled me back into the game. I was actually starting to enjoy playing when the exact same thing happened to me again, which is why I'm writing this right now.

All of this pain could have easily been prevented if this idea was just implemented. It's super easy to code and doesn't take much effort.

Also, yes, I did post this idea in this suggestion forum already but not much effort was put into it, and I really want this to be changed.

Although this is a good idea, biased polls are not.

 

If you didn't learn from your first mistake (which clearly you don't seem to have) then it is partially your fault, but it is still mostly the fault of the game for defaulting to the whole stock, so yeah it should change

You can just change the amount by clicking the plus sign, and it tells you the amount you're buying AND the total amount of money it'll cost so I don't see what your problem is.

 

okay but is there a reason not to make this change? there are many scenarios where you’ll want to buy only one item, and almost none where you’ll want to buy the entire stock, so if this change isn’t for safety, then it’s also for convenience.

 

That person's a bit silly and should have checked before he bought!

P.S Troms scrolls are hardly going to break the bank are they

It's a quality of life change, some people don't check how much they're buying

 

A bit biased here, but I actually like the way things are now. I feel it's much easier to change the number to 1 and or read over it a little slower than to have to try and figure out the exact stock for something like bulk mats, which I often buyout like 500+ at a time. Not to say that's too difficult either, and you can also just throw in a number like 6000 to buy it all, but one is much easier, nonetheless.

I just feel like, more times than not, it's useful for it to default to the entire stock. A lot of really expensive ingredients are not often stacked more than with one or two others, which I'd need anyway, and powders are pretty easy to type the number corresponding to slots on your armor/weapon. In pretty much every other scenario, I'm looking to buy it all

 

I wouldn't mind if they made this change, I don't feel like it's necessary as long as people can read numbers but if it'd really help people I guess it'd be fine, although if you actually do want to buy the whole stock you might not know what the maximum is, but if they could find a way around this that'd be fine.

 

I just thought of something; instead of making this change and upsetting all the profession sweats, there should instead be an option to set the default amount of items you want to buy, and the default default amount of items a player would want to buy should be set to one to 1. (sorry if it's confusing)
This way, new players that don't know how to set the default amount of items they want to buy won't accidentally do what I did, and profession sweats will be able to customize the default amount of items that they want to buy.

 

Should I make another thread about it with the idea above in mind, or would that be obnoxious?

Basically when you first join the game, the default amount would be set to 1, but you would also have the option to change that default amount. This way, new players that don’t know how to change it won’t accidentally do what I did, and people that liked the way it was before could change it back. It would allow for a lot of versatility with the system.

I don't think there is. If there was a system like that in place already, someone here probably would've already told me about it.
