1.16 is the best version, but a very popular mod named Wynntils is only available on 1.12.2
You can play on anything 1.9+
Please read this post with the rules.
If you have any questions, please ask.
    Hope you enjoy the game!

I'd use 1.12.2; it's the most stable version currently. Wynntils is nice, but I'd recommend playing without it for a bit to get a feel for the game and so you'll know what is or isn't a feature of the mod.

Hello! I hope you enjoy the server, as the other chaps have said the server's pretty self explanatory. Best version is 12.2.2 and I'd recommend using Wynntils personally but play on the server for a couple of hours first to see if you like it

    Wouldn't agree.
    Have you played both?
1.16 is less laggy and has some good performance mods (if you use Fabric)
There are some extra textures and stuff as well in 1.16.

I know 1.16 is decent, but the server is most stable in 1.12, its actual version, and you are less likely to get bugs. Plus, you don't really need something like a thousand fps, the human eye can't see past 60 anyways(I personally don't notice a difference from 60 to inf, if it does its probably your mind playing tricks the human eye cannot see a lot past 60 fps)
+YOUR USING A LITERAL PACK THAT REPLACES EVERYTHING WHY DO YOU NEED BETTER VANILLA TEXTURES

actual version? What do you mean by this? Wynncraft is run on 1.8 server-side...
    Yeah it plays smoother anyway.
Lastly, sorry I mean stuff like there are some sounds and stuff that don't exist in 1.12 because they can't

...in a post from 2019. Minecraft version 1.16 was released in June of 2020. People keep repeating "1.12 is the most stable version", but nobody seems to know what that actually means. As far as I know, there aren't any significant bugs unique to 1.16. The CT member in question also isn't the be-all and end-all authority on what version to use. This thread features multiple CT members recommending 1.16.
