So I just finished The Forbidden Prison, the first 1.20 quest I did, and I'm really impressed. Such a big improvement from before. I loved all the little interactions in the work parts--it reminded me of Misadventure of the Sea, especially the part where you could feed the rat some cheese for 5 EB. I also really liked how the quest seemed to tie into a bigger part of lore? Now, my knowledge of Wynncraft lore pretty much just exists on the surface level, but I assume Dullahan is connected to the prison somehow, from the note in the Warden's office, signed "-D", from all the talk about souls, and from how the letters in the room with the prisoner records mentioned how it was like the Warden just popped into existence for the sole sake of being the prisoner's Warden. (Also, I noticed how the Warden was an elf. Wonder if that has some deeper meaning?)

Ooh, and the part where you could choose to feed the starving prisoner and free someone from the solitary cells just made the world feel so much more lived in! I don't know what the starving prisoner interaction will lead to, because I haven't yet gone to talk to his family, but I entered Cinfras after freeing the other guy, and it was such a cool interaction. I really hope to see more things like this in future quests.

And, as for the content of the quest itself . . . I loved the level of difficulty in this quest. Harder than before (in the original, the first guard to speak to you literally accidentally dropped the key in your cell. I never could take that part seriously), but not hard. There were an appropriate amount of hints/pointers so that I didn't get lost or frustrated. For example, in the first scene, when the guard is talking to the player in the cell, it was IMO a nice touch for a part of the guard's dialogue--telling the player to look around their cell because they'll be there for a while--to be highlighted, to point out to the player that there's a double meaning, yet it still makes sense for the guard to say that, which makes it all the more immersive.

The sneaking parts were fun (I always enjoy quests where you have to sneak past guards--like the Pirate Queen quest and that quest in Almuj/Rymek where you have to steal some guy's diary) and not too difficult--embarrassingly enough, the room it took me the longest to get through was the second one, where literally all you have to do is walk through the structure (reception desk? No idea, honestly) that's smack in the middle of the room. And I liked how in the cafeteria, you got to choose what table to sit at. I chose the mafia table, so I wonder how the quest would've changed had I chosen the other one. I'm also sure I missed a few easter eggs (when I snuck into the Warden's office through the vent, I got into it without falling into the other passageways, so I wonder what are in those two!), which makes me all the more eager to redo this quest.

Anyway . . . that's about it! I'm terrible at writing reviews so this is pretty rambly, but . . . . Wow. This quest exceeded my expectations by a lot, and if I enjoyed this one so much, I cannot wait to try the rest out.
