Are you kidding me? Walking back is your idea of a punishment? Wynn being casual is a problem imo. Sure, we have hard bosses, but those are all at endgame, except Durum Protector or Colossal Rat or other shit. You can walk back to Qira in a minute from Thanos. If you want to remove soul points, make it like Dark Souls.

    -10 if I could.

And? Adding a wait isn't adding difficulty. It's the cheapest and most artificial way to add "challenge" by making players stop playing until they regen soul points.

It doesn't change whether the bosses are laughably easy (now) or actually get some difficulty.

Allowing players to attempt a certain boss over and over again is simply cheap as well. Wynn's bosses obv need to be much harder, but players need to have a punishment for dying. Maybe a wait isn't the best system, but they still need to lose something. Again, maybe add some penalty that starts at lv. 40. Dying below that is forgivable, but above that, if you die, it's your fault.

Seems like you want some kind of appropriate penalty then, not the current system which is really impossible to defend. And that's definitely the best solution.

Just make death lower the durability of your items and give all items durability. Think that would be a way better implementation of durability than just having it drop over time.

scrolls would become too overpowered and the punishments for dying would be nonexistent
a better solution would be to add some kind of guide to soul points in an early quest or the tutorial
or they could make regaining soul points easier somehow
i can see the issues but removing them would bring even more balancing problems

I remember the last time someone tried to make this point... There's so many valid points you can make but this isn't it. Emerald cost exists, you know? So does fast travel, /kill, and many other methods other than scrolls that cost emeralds.

Honestly what is there even about scrolls that could be overpowered? They make it so you don't have to walk for five minutes. They cut down on tedium not difficulty.

emerald cost would work i guess
    fast travel is great
/kill has a disadvantage which is also soul points

also skill point reset scrolls would become completely useless unless they were made the only way to reset skill points (which would be incredibly annoying)

    i see your points though
maybe add a not too sure option to the poll?

@JaydonTheWarrior made a good suggestion earlier in this thread that I think got overlooked; that is, there could be more chill, non-combat activities (like seavale reef) that give a decent reward and possibly help regenerate sp to give players a reason to keep playing after losing too many sp.

How giving new player 12 soulpoints, maxed at 20sp (1 for every 10-12 levels) and setting different drop chances for <10, 10-30, 30-50, 50+ ?
You could also refill 1sp when you level up

Here's an idea: Soul points give other debuffs than losing items.
As an obvious example, -xp. Say, for each soul point missing, you lose 10% of XP gained or such, and gain soul points at mornings like usual.
There's still a punishment, but it won't hurt quite so bad, as it just slows your progress instead of making you lose your progress, and it can be ignored much easier.

As a secondary idea, remove soul point regen and replace it with Soul Point Penalty: If you have items that decreace the penalty by, say, 50%, you'll only lose 5% of XP per soul point lost, and incerace the amount, so if you focus say boots and a few accessories on it to lose some stats, the penalty will be like 1% so you can ignore it. This makes it so you can die without penalty, but only if you give yourself a bit of a power penalty. If you want to go further, attach it to only normal items, so they have an itsy little bit of use, too.

That's actually a point in my favour, since soul point penalty is suddenly an useful ID

Right now the game is pretty easy, and soul points basically ensure that will always be the case: if you punish death severely, you can't make the game too hard or it becomes unfair or even unplayable as when you hit a wall your only option is to stop playing. Wynn isn't meant to be a hard game, it's always been a fairly easy game with a few major challenges, which works with what the have.
