Assassin Is Now The Worst Class. Change My Mind.

shaman is different in the sense that it's a lot more modern and the CT have come a long way when it comes to game design, whereas the original 4 classes are kinda simplistic and yknow, 7 years old. it has high damage, yeah, but that's drawbacked by the fact that shaman's defense is utter bad

 

Wow. This is actually the dumbest thing I’ve seen today.

Assassin, as a class, has
-the best crowd control spell (spin)
-the best damage over time spell (multihit)
-the second best area denial spell (smoke)
-the second best defensive spell (vanish)
-the highest damage boost (vanish again)
-the second best base defense
For a tradeoff of range, which is easily mitigated since A. Most arenas are close ranged and B. You can turn invisible at will.
A smart assassin can literally always have an 80% damage boost up, while rendering the enemy ENTIRELY HELPLESS with spin and multihit. If you’re looking at pure single spell damage numbers, of course you’re going to think it’s lacking, because the point of assassin is to combo spells. It’s supposed to be the class with a high skill cap.

Not to mention the ability to, y’know, FLY.

 

You do a large jump, but only with conditions (one being on the ground, it’s possible to do midair I just mean that’s one way)

 

... it’s moved you for like two years and allowed you to pick any direction to move for three months

Tbh I really dont care about any classes except archer and shaman, I just dont care about the others but for the like 14 levels Ive played them I dislike assassin the most lol

 

Thrunda is underrated. I'm sure it could be improved, but I'm no great builder.

So i see now that assassin has potential and im using it wrong, but i still fail to see how assassin is not the worst class. The build im using rn for my warrior is very good with some kinda low defs but overall its exactly what id need from a build from any class.

also: I really wasn't expecting this to become a flame war with insults thrown around and stuff, i just was looking for a discussion about this class that has changed a whole lot since the last time i used it.

ok so someone who mains assassin doesnt wanna post due to some black fuckery reasons i cant state otherwise you memers will ruin it so heres his response to this thread

"In my opinion, you are very wrong. Assassin is one of the strongest class for AoE CC. Spin Attack is by far one of the strongest, if not, THE strongest ability in the entire game for it's spamability, AoE Blind Slow CC, and the raw damage it deals when you build Thunder, which is arguably the highest dealing damage element in the game due to Cataclysm.

It's most likely something wrong with your build. With a non-mythic build, 7k spins is pretty decent, as you can spam it pretty decently. When you incorporate a mythic like Cata, you can get 15K spins average, not calculating the 80% (pretty sure) damage bonus from Vanish.

Multihit is also one of the best displacers for mobs in the game, and also just overall decent for DPS when you can make the target stand still. Smoke Bomb is also a big addition to DPS, as the DoT is very powerful, and it slows very heavily.

Vanish is a super useful movement skill as it not only dashes you, but can essentially be used as a super leap. Not to mention it gives speed and high Resistance, AND the 80% damage bonus lasts for 2 seconds after the duration expires!

So, your bad experience with Assassin could be due to one or more of the following:
- Bad Class Build
- Don't know how to play the class to its max
- Expecting too much from Assassin

And hey, maybe playing too much Wynncon/Systematic Recreation has affected your opinion. Maybe the equations for damage are wrong and Nova needs to fix them, but I doubt that."

 

well i did do all my assassin testing on the wynncon server so maybe thats it. I think i just underestimated the capability of all the synergies of its abilities and stuff.

that and also imagine 300hpr mattering when like every assassin player and their grandmother is running around with vastly superior recovery in the form of either greed, lifesteal or health potions.

Alright, basically everything that I wanted to say has already been said. As others have also concluded, It very much seems to be the build's problem rather than the classes problem. I can tell that you like sustain and HPR, but have you considered other options apart from basic HPR (which btw, 300hpr is minuscule) such as Old Keepers Ring and its major id Greed. (https://www.wynndata.tk/i/old+keeper's+ring ) OKR is legitimately one of the most powerful items in the game especially when considering how slappable it is and how good its major id is.

Also, The Exploited exists which is a super gamer dagger that also has the major id greed. (I know you wanted a spell build but w/e)

With this build its important to utilize vanish and try to keep that 2-sec damage boost up as much as possible.
