World Buff Air Powder [we Did It, They Buffed Wind Prison!]

Air powder is really underwhelming compared to other elements and here's why:

Air Prison

Air prison is undisputedly the worst weapon powder special in the game, the duration is low compared to the other powders with a measly 5 sec, you really can't do much damage when there are factors like knockback and weapon attack speed between you casting powder special and actually casting a spell, and not forgot to mention the 180% damage boost (for T6) compared to Curse (210% 9 seconds), Courage (125% 8 seconds) is way inferior and less consistent than their counterparts. The worst part about air prison is the knockback, it literally makes no sense for the ability to knockback when the ability is meant to lock the mob in the air to do damage within the duration of the powder, the knockback makes it counter-intuitive by knocking away the mob you are trying to imprison and damage either with melee or with close-ranged spells.
In addition to the server bug and the knockback, archer have to cast the powder special by shift meleeing which will fire an arrow and knocks back the mob when you don't want to.

How to fix Air Prison:

Completely remove knockback, make it an actual god damn PRISON where the mob is LOCKED in place so you can either perform melee, spells (esp arrow storm).

I also think the armor special for air is by far the worst special for armor, not only because you don't want to be near a monster, but because it makes 0 sense for archer and mage (even shaman) when you are intended to use range to your advantage. An interesting idea (imo) for a replacement would be increasing damage depending on the number of blocks you have moved in the past couple of seconds (numbers can be adjusted to be balanced).

 

Yes 100% this makes sense. I do think that maybe an increase in duration could be warrented (5 sec t4 7 sec t6 imo)

The special doesn't count agility hits against itself.
It also doesn't reset, if you get close to a mob, build up 30% damage, and then get hit, then it doesn't reset.
It only resets when you move away from a mob.

My hero build didn't have any damage bonus, but with the Air powder I would normally end up with more damage than a thrundacrack by the end of most boss fights.

 

Can you provide specific evidence for this? I've been unable to find reliable information about Dodge.

 

Honestly more info on Dodge would be great (If it turns out to be what Jaydon says it is, I wouldn't doubt it actually being used more - its description ingame/from other sources paints it as objectively terrible), but also I could definitely see it replaced with a special like "Momentum"- Build up damage based on movement, like 0.5% per block moved, which all resets upon a single attack, and can be built up again (Think of it like Volt's Passive from Warframe if you know that game) Either that or a slower build up, like 0.1% per block, which just slowly decays over time.

 

Powder specials are meant to be universal for all classes and all builds, Hero and other CQC somewhat tanky air build would benefit from the dodge ability because you can afford to take a few hits before backing up, but for most air build, the hp and defenses are just not there to take advantage of the ability. I think damage increase based on blocks traveled is a great idea because most, if not all air builds have walk speed and you are constantly trying to outmaneuver the incoming damage by keeping a distance from your foes.

 

Well, that's not true, Endurance also is most benefitted from a tanky playstyle, and must you not forget, agility is a tank stat.

 

But agility does not benefit with a tanky playstyle.

 

The special is meant to make you take risk.

 

The risk factor is different for every element though

Agility is a tank stat that has enough damage items on it that you can use it well as a glass cannon, which you cannot do with defense. Regardless of what the air armor special does we really need to know what it does in the first place...

 

This. the air armor special is the most convoluted and worst explained out of all the powder specials

 

I would agree the air special for armor is good on assassin and warrior if it works how jayden is saying although forcing you to play close ranged even on classes which aren't feels like bad design.

As someone with an agility archer build, this is one of my biggest pet peeves! I'd love this change.
