World Changing The Melee Damage Identification To Basic Damage

    I feel as though melee damage is a pretty misleading stat in the game, as it affects archers as well. I played through the entire game as an archer, assuming that melee damage was not gonna help me since even my basic attack was ranged, but just assumed it was a design flaw. It wasn't until I noticed a massive cut in damage when a put on a -32% melee damage armor that I noticed a drop in my attack.

    I feel like changing the name "melee damage" to "basic damage" or "attack damage" would solve this issue, as well as not to mislead newbies.

    "Basic" suggests "neutral" (unless "melee damage" only affects neutral damage, in which case it's okay for "basic" to suggest "neutral"). "Attack" damage could also imply an effect on spells, since those are attacks as well.

    "Hit damage" is the only other name I can think of.

    Good suggestion, though I feel it should be labelled as 'Base Damage', this is pretty clear imo and can't really be confused with elements nor a range specification.

    But it can be confused with the weapon's base damage, which all damage calculations are based off of.

    Attack damage can absolutely be used, attack damage is used in most rpgs. Spell damage is a different stat

    It's generic enough that, since all damage is based off attacks, it could be confused for boosting spell damage. Other people have pointed this out in previous suggestions of this nature as well. No one's been able to come up with a name that isn't extremely long or unwieldy that can't be easily confused.

    Attack damage can be used, attack damage and spell damage. That's simple, that's what they've been doing for 60 years in table-top rpg games. It's a lot better than melee damage imo

    Seeing as many people have confused Mage's attack for a spell, and people have trouble already determining what constitutes spell and melee, making it that much less compartmentalized will only make it worse.

    If they're confused it's either their fault, or the server's fault for not explaining it. Can't you see? It's madness to call it melee damage, as that is misleading and a LIE, weapon damage or attack damage would work a lot better. RPG games have been calling it attack damage and spell damage since before either of us were born so I respectfully disagree

    1. Tabletop RPG's do not constantly show the player a regular attack that looks like magic and so looks like a spell.
    2. Even if Wynncraft goes so far as to change its teaching tactics, forcibly drill into players' heads what is "melee" versus "spell" (amongst other things that players can confuse), and prevent them from progressing in the game until they have no confusion left, there will still be some confused players, including players who progress a few levels, leave for a while, and then come back to the game.
    3. Maybe on some technical level, all the stuff we currently call "melee damage" is melee damage.
    I'm going to hope at least one of those is a valid reason.
