This is a short and simple suggestion that I believe will slightly improve the new challenge modes.

When a character reaches level 103 on a challenge mode character, the player unlocks a cosmetic item that's only obtainable by completing said challenge. This could be a gear skin, a pet, a particle effect, anything.

Adding a reward, however small it may be, to challenge modes will make them slightly worth doing, rather than just doing it for the challenge.

We can't add cosmetics like you want because there's other ways to obtain equivalent cosmetics. Basically, it can't be an existing type of cosmetic if we want to add it, otherwise it breaks EULA.

I don't really get that considering larger servers have this exact thing used massively. For example, Hypixel does this for basically every single game mode: in ranked modes of skywars you unlock exclusive cosmetics that can only be obtained by placing like top 500 at the end of season, with there being no other way to obtain such cosmetic. How is this situation any different from that?

I think you two misunderstood what Selvut said.
Selvut said that it can't be an EXISTING type of cosmetic. It follows that if it were a new kind, it would be allowed.

again, literally something done by other big servers all the time and yet they don't get struck down by the EULA. Afaik it'd only be an issue if the cosmetic was available for purchase too, which it wouldn't be

I'm pretty sure having more marketplace slots and character slots for ranked players goes aginst EULA as well.

I cannot see how this will at all

gameplay advantage ≠ having a bit easier time and less coordinating
although with the new challenges, i think you can definitely argue for one extra class for nons but that's neither here nor there

As for the cosmetics, I could see maybe some particles of a certain color (the same as the challenge completed, so Ironman gets yellow, Hardcore gets red, Craftsman get blue) which could be turned on and off separately, so you could have all three active at the same time if you succeeded all three challenges on one class.
(The cosmetics would be bound to the class which finished the challenge of course)

Except that's an example of Mojang looking the other way. That does break the EULA, because it is a type of cosmetic that is the same type as another one obtainable by payment if I am understanding correctly. Hypixel breaks a lot of rules, honestly.

It's not a gameplay advantage at all, the moderator either doesn't know what he's talking about or is misunderstanding the rules, to be honest.

I don't see how a cosmetic item is the same as not allowing free players more character slots or marketplace slots

I think what the mod is trying to say is this: If you can purchase a cosmetic that is the same as (or equivalent to) the cosmetic that you get for completing challenge mode, then that purchase could be seen as bypassing gameplay. Personally, I don't think this would be a problem for a couple of reasons.
    1. Unless the cosmetics were exactly the same, players could tell the difference between purchased and earned.
    2. Getting cosmetics more easily isn't really a gameplay advantage which is what is banned by the minecraft eula.

Remember the Gold Coin shop? It was a very old system, and a secondary ingame "currency" that allowed you to buy items that you could also purchase directly via donation. You could very slowly gain Gold Coins by placing in the top 3 in Nether battles, and some of the things you could buy were pets and cosmetics. This was against the EULA, as you were allowed to purchase these things with real money, which was seen as a "fast track" and thus fell against the rules. There were also other things you could buy with functional applications like shouts, but Mojang, according to the EULA, was against everything in the Gold Coin shop, functional or cosmetic. Why wouldn't that extend to here?

If you can get a particle effect or exclusive pet or weapon skin or disguise or anything else like that by completing Hardcore, Ironman, or Craftsman, it would be against the EULA as you can purchase things that fall under the same category, and thus have a "fast track" just like with the Gold Coin shop. At least, that's my understanding of the situation.

But how are bought crates any different? If you don't mind me asking, if it's cosmetic I am apsolutely sure it's allowed to be added.

This isn't just Wynncraft saying you have to pay to get cosmetics is it? Do they not want non-ranked players to be able to get cosmetic items through skill? If you don't mind my inquiry
