So, imagine this. You get a pretty cool ingredient, walking around looting, or killing some rare monster. So you get some 3 star ingredient or some 1 star ingredient, perfect for what your planning to craft. Unfortunately, you die and lose said ingredient. You might think, "I'm at maximum soul-points, I surely can't lose it." However, because of the old system, ingredients are marked as junk items and junk items before the Economy Update could drop at maximum soul-points. This means the chance to lose said ingredient is really high, even possible at maximum soul points. For an update focused on crafting, I think this is absurd.

To fix this, I propose to change make it so you can't lose any ingredients when dying until a soul point amount around 10 to 12 or some number NOT 15

A simple change, and I don't think it would be hard to change it seems like you can adjust the death droprate of junk items, which are all gone.

I think 7 is a little low, 9 or 10 sounds better to me. Even then, this means dying at 15+ soul points means nothing. Emerald drop should probably be 12 or 13, rather than 10.

You start the game with 10 soul points btw

Number should be around 9 to 7

I picked 7 because if you die level one, you have no chance of losing ingredients and end up with 8 soul points

Edit: 9 soul points if the items you drop are calculated on current soul points before death

the way items drop on death changes based on how many total soul points you have

at level 1, the items that drop at 10 sp are different from the ones at level 100

I disagree because ever since this update, both due to ingredients and due to materials, I've actually tried to avoid dying. I like that there can now be a reason to not want to die other than "you need to walk back." Before this update I found myself using /kill just to travel to the nearest city, but since you can currently actually lose things whilst on high soul points, I am forced to care about deaths.

Which I believe to be a good thing.

Having said that, it has made death due to lag/glitches a lot more frustrating. So I wouldn't necessarily dislike it if the requirements got changed.

Valid point, however, the fact that its so strict it is too inconvient. The number of soul points of where the items may drop can vary, the fact that you can lose ingredients even at full soul points is stupid since like above, you have to /kill sometimes because of bugs.

As someone who has had a first hand experience of reaching 0 soul points unintentionally, I have always since 2014 tried to prevent myself from dying even before the new soul point system came in to affect, if your wondering how I died so many times and why I also lost all my stuff back on my first class way back then, One, I never used the map back then and there for I didn't know where or even what detlas was at the time, nor nemract or any city other than ragni which at the time had no bank and um, halloween mascabre... enough said, (Oh yeah you couldn't regenerate soul points offline back then either, basically you were screwed.)

I think that as the tier goes up the requirement to drop them goes down. That way you wont have a circumstance like me where you drop 5 tier 2s and 2 tier 3s and no toer 0s

Tbh that would be cool but more code intensive. If they can do it thats actually better, but mine is a quick change.

Definitely needed, especially as death is often caused by lag or glitches and losing 3 star ingredients when it is totally out of your control is infuriating.

To be honest in most cases I wouldn't care too much about this unless you're carrying multiple tier 2 or 3 ingredients on you. And then there's the case of the Uth shrines. You need avia feathers to activate them, and the boss along with its minions can be tough enough, even enough to kill you. Before, dying at max sp was no big deal, because avia feathers were classified as other items, not junk items. However...

I can confirm that at max sp you can lose a good chunk of feathers. I was trying to get to Wybel Island to farm fluff to sell and I lagged so badly I got massacred by silver birds. At the time I still had a glitched bank and had 15 feathers in my inventory and upon dying at max sp I lost 5 of them. 5. Based on how the uth guardians can despawn after 50 seconds and feathers being a fairly rare drop to get, losing this many feathers is a bit detrimental for one death. Now consider this with the Uth shrines, with the tough boss and other mobs, a higher chance for death, and the need to bring multiple feathers along with you...

Honestly this is the biggest offender of this phenomenon. Boss altar activating ingredients aren't hard to reobtain, and most other ingredients can be obtained easily aside from rare mob drops and some tier 2/3 items. However I do think this needs a bit of reconsideration, especially for things like the Uth shrines forcing you to lose a harsh chunk of your feathers for one death at full sp.
