World /wiki Command

pretty simple, you type "/wiki <StuffYouWantToSearch>" in game and it automatically opens your browser on the official wiki page and searches for whatever the term you typed

not everyone knows about the wiki and its an easy way of introducing it to new players since it has some valuable information and can help them in a very convenient way

a. isn't official
b. is old and not current
c. as a result of a and b, can easily feed players incorrect information

so yes its official and no its not old

 

it's "community maintained", it's "under construction", and has been mentioned (by multiple mods and ct members) that even though it is reliable for most information, it is not 100% reliable and gives some misinformation.

additionally, there's subjective information that can easily be mistaken for objective (ex: it's mentioned that assassin is associated with thunder, which is of course subjective by the word "associative" but an average reader will probably just think "ok so assassin is thunder class")

examples:
-notes that each level up will give 2 sp besides level 1, which is currently false (102-104)
-many item values are outdated (many new ones aren't even listed on the page, such as unravel or cardiac arrest)
-relic armor is actually obtainable now
-new quests outdated
-loot bonus affecting rarity of items (not true)
-id of a vast majority of items aren't shown
-important information that's not obvious to find. for example, the whole thing about attack tiers affecting spell damage is quite out of the way and hard to find, making it easily believable that more raw damage = better.

 

Especially with an updates that introduced and changed as much in terms of quests in the last 2 updates... A lot of the stuff on the wiki is really out of date.

And srsly is opening google and doing the search yourself really that much harder...?
Just ganna say seems like a fairly pointless feature in the fact that it really isn't that hard to open google manually....

The very few times the wiki is actually useful is for quests like
"Enter the Dojo" When it comes to Puzzle 3
"Desperate Metal" With the water Puzzle

If you REALLY want this feature... Download Wynntils. In the quest book if you right click on that quest it opens the wiki directly to that quests Wiki Page.

the command would just open google for you... If you can't open google and MC then the command would be of no use to you.

And if you say anything about possible bans... that was resolved when the 1.18 was released.

Last time I was on the wiki which was AFTER reading this post....
I saw a notice in red that said
"The content on this page may be out of date"
Or something along the lines of that anyway.

 

yes it is outdated because of the last update but like how every other wiki in the world works, it's members are gonna edit it and update

its just for convenience, like "/itemlock", i bet 99% of the playerbase has the sense of changing their dropping key to something hard to press, right?

 

there have been numerous cases of someone dropping the wrong item into a hopper (likely due to scrolling), although there's a lot less hoppers now
there is also the inconvenience of when grinding mobs, it's more difficult to drop junk items out to try to pick up armor etc
there is also the that if you type fast, you might press your drop key by missing whatever your chat key is

 

well there have been numerous cases of people spamming the discord or the forum with simple questions and useless thread that they could've just searched on wiki, but guess what? they didnt even know there was a wiki
