Not A Suggestion But Just A Concept, Recipe Books

Recipe Books are items written by players which can be sold to players, there are 2 types of recipe books, Guide Books and Content Books. Recipe Books are in the Scribing crafting profession, of course, meaning you'll need skill in that profession, now the papers and oils to use in make a recipe book depend on what the recipe book has in store (lvl or type of book), a Guide Book will only tell you what you need and what is the outcome of your crafted item, so they will be cheaper, while a Content Book will have the ingredients and guide to crafting the item, you get to keep these books of course as you wish but only the original author of the book can sell it, preventing ways to keep recycling a book, when the contents of a Content Book are diminished, they will be gone from the book, meaning that you'll have to get the ingredients yourself. So this can be a useful way for players to make some money using Scribing if they have put their effort into it, not having to put their work into other professions to make the item, but just using the powerful methods of simple writing to gain some money in their bank, and yes you can even make recipe books to craft scrolls, this would be useful as crafting can get complicated and sometimes you just don't know what to craft so it has good durability and stats at the same time. Not to mention each book must have a different name and description to avoid copying a book that you read and just taking it as your own idea and concept. As the title says it's just a concept and not a suggestion as re-creating this in-game would probably be utter.

also the professions are a bit different to how you envision them but i cound totally see this being an interesting concept

 

I'm a dark theme user so yes I used bright colors because of that but what it says is "Glacial Anamoly" and "Ritual Catalyst" which are two real ingredients, while the materials are "Refined Pine Wood" and "Refined Rice String" which are also real materials

 

That's cool and all but I'm sure there will be plenty of recipes shared online, making an ingame book unnecessary
Though the idea of actually selling recipes would be amazing, and possible due to the huge number of ingredients. So I'm a bit split with this

From what i understand from this description is that there will be two books, one of them is for what you need and what will be the outcome of crafting with them and the other is a guide to craft them.
I would appreciate it if you made it more clear or made a TLDR (Too long didn't read).
I would like a book that will store all the crafting that you craft so you can know how to do this item again without making a list and it's a way to add in the book recipes (that you unlock with leveling up or doing quests) that will help the players with crafting.

 

A Guide Book only has the guide (stuff you need and what is your outcome) while Content Books has everything the Guide Book has but has the actual ingredients and materials embedded into it (most likely via a command you click in the book)

 

I would prefer it more simple something like one book that shows everything you make.

 

Thanks! While yes on the forums there would probably be a section for crafting but it kinda removes the challenge of crafting and what you can make out of it if your skillful in it, so yes impracticalities aside this would be a nice way for skilled crafters to make a profit

what do you mean by "everything" do you mean everything you have personally made all charted into one book?

 

I meant that everything you make will be stored in a book and you can disable it or delete the ones you don't want.

 

That... isn't really what my concept was but that's basically just a book to organize your things, it has nothing to do with my concept of selling recipe books to other players you personally made, but your idea would still be useful

Why no good reason? Scribing would be useful for once and you could make money out of it, crafting can be very hard if you don't know what you need and what you can make with what you have so buying a Guide or Content book would be the solution but as I said I don't want this as a suggestion just a concept, also if you wish to know what I mean read the thread entirely as if you don't know that the books are sellable that means you haven't read the thread

Say, do you have any experience in crafting? Do you like the crafting system? Will you use it yourself and not buy crafted items from others? Just some questions I wanna know :D

 

I would prefer selling ingredients then buying them and if i would ever use the crafting system i will use them in a new class and playthrough with only crafting items.

 

Doesn't appear that you're interested into the system, I'm okay with that but I don't have HERO so what do I know, anyway I suppose we can stop
