Hey y'all. For a long time, I've had a bunch of quality-of-life ideas for Wynn that'd be too small to get their own thread. At last, I've gathered each one of them into a single big thread where you're free to read whichever you want. These are mainly small gripes about the resource pack and forums, so if you're not interested about those, you might aswell skip reading through the thread.

Currently, Wynn's resourcepack's water blinks from each frame to another immediately, making the water look harsh on the eyes, and not all that great. Interpolation essentially fades the textures from one to the next one instead of a direct snap. The best thing is, this could be done with a single line inside the water's json file.

    Demonstration video here:
I've wondered for a long while, why the official resource pack still uses vanilla textures to represent its armor pieces. One explanation could be, that it gives newer players a slight bit of familiarity upon starting to use a completely new pack, but that's about it. Many of us know, that the resource pack contains unfinished assets for armor, which the community has utilized and turned into a working pack. The question is, what reason was there to prevent them from getting implemented officially?

This idea is in the same boat as the former one, and has been pointed out by quite a few people.

With the economy update coming soon™, many have been slightly disappointed by the fact that gathering tools are using their vanilla textures, despite professions being nearly comparable to combat. It'd be logical to give tools their own custom 3D models to fit in with weapons eventually in a future update, after 1.18 drops. As for 1.18, it would've been nice to see at least some original 2D sprites used for tools apart from the fishing rods.

Yes, this would require both time and effort, and someone who can do 3D modeling again, but unlike the other small suggestions on this thread, this one's more of a necessity to retain equal quality in Wynn.
How many times have you been trying to keep your distance from an enemy while drinking a potion, only to realize that drinking the "instant" potion still has it's client-side animation which breaks your sprint, resulting in your demise?

There's a lot of things in Wynn which are problematic in this way, due to using vanilla items with unwanted features. With Wynn dropping support for 1.8, the nearly infinite durability textures from 1.9 could be utilized for more things than just weapon skins. A good example of this would be potions, as mentioned before. With the resource pack changing so much nowadays that you can't play without it, I don't see why anything would need to use their vanilla counterparts for anything, really.

However, there's a couple flaws with this idea.

First one being, that it'd most likely be an immense amount of work for something so small, but afterall, this thread is about small quality-of-life changes. Changing every single merchant and so on does seem a bit unrealistic though.

The second problem would be, that newer items wouldn't stack with older items, and the original textures couldn't be reused for anything else due to players still possessing items utilizing them.
Currently, the creator of a poll can enable users to change their own votes as they please. However, if someone has voted already, they can't remove their vote despite being able to still change it. This can occasionally be problematic, if you vote without thinking, only to find out you don't support any of the options. It's not a big thing, but I thought I'd include it here.

There's 2 ways this could be implemented, although I'm not too sure of what XenForo's capable of. The first would be to include it with vote changing, and second would be to make it its own, toggleable option for the poll's creator. There isn't all that much to explain about this, so I'll just move on to the next idea.
Before I even start to explain this, I need to state again, that I'm not aware of the technical limitations of XenForo as a forums platform. If something isn't possible, feel free to notify me about it.

So, if you're reading this thread, you're most likely a somewhat active user of the forums. In that case, you'll know of the fight between forum themes not only looking different, but behaving differently from eachother. While many of us would like to use another theme, we're disencouraged to do so by whatever discrepancy we find between the theme we mainly use. This can be anything from a huge top bar constantly covering a part of the page and layouts being just a slight bit different, to certain features being completely broken.

This is why it'd be lovely, if we could choose which features we want to use on any theme, instead of having different themes behave differently, or forcing everyone to use one universal style which a part doesn't like. These could be toggled either from a subsection of the theme selector, or your own account preferences once you've logged in.

Just to name a few things that should be toggleable:
-Do you want to have the top bar always on your screen, or in the top of the page?
-Should you have a top bar or an openable side panel?
-If side panel, what do you want to keep outside of the panel? (Alerts, private messages, profile, log out)

Colin, I'm looking at you with this one.

Heck, I had so many more ideas that I forgot while writing this. I'll probably update the thread one day.

I'm open to all constructive criticism, as long as you understand the idea behind what you're talking about.

This level of quality-of-life is insane. It’s nitpicky, sure, but the suggestion is still really cool and nice
(the texture changes look great, the forums changes are ”YES” and the changes look easy to do. I mean, you already prototyped one of the changes before making this suggestion)

    Hey!

I've cleaned up this thread. We've all gotten off a wrong start and started some flaming over a no option of a poll. As a heads up, though, I would recommend adding a no option to the poll. This is the only time I, or anyone else, on the thread will bring it up, and you may listen or not listen, it's up to you. For everyone else, do not argue about it anymore, and criticize what is actually on the thread. Now, let's return to the actual topic of the thread, shall we.
