    The Idea:
So I always thought that the questbook was too... Knowledgable. At level 1 you can see every single quest in the game. I will go more into why I think this is bad later. What I think should happen, is have a "Help Board" or something of the sort in each town. This is way more realistic, as the NPCs are kinda... trying to reach out to everybody for help.
The other solution is that every quest doesn't show up right away. The quests with a big red X should just not show up at all.
What will happen to the quest book you may ask? Well it will lose some functionality, but instead of showing every single available and completed quest, it will show your current quests, and just have information about them. Imagine the current layout, except only having your current quests showing up with information about the stage of the quest that youre on.

TL;DR: Make the quest book more realistic by not displaying all unavailable quests, or by adding help wanted boards in each town.

    The Reason:
I believe that showing every single quest in the game to the player at level 1 can be either a bit overwhelming, or show that there is a near end to a game. Sometimes what saddens me the most, is seeing the end to a video game within reach. It means its coming to an end, and I can clearly see how and when.
Another reason is that its very unrealistic to have this... omniscient player. Knowing exactly where an NPC needs help. It really doesnt make sense. A help wanted board would be some much more realistic.

TL;DR: Its really unrealistic to have every quest available to the player at all times. The player doesn't know everything, and shouldn't unless they have a reason to.

    The Execution:
I've explained it in bits so far, but yeah. Remove all unavailable quests until the quest has been started or completed.
Add help wanted boards that show every single person in need in, or near the town. (unless it's a secret quest that the player needs to explore to find ;) which can add a lot of interesting features to the game. Imagine hidden quests! That would be awesome! Stumbling upon one of those would be great and exciting!)

I'm sure that lots of you enjoy our current quest system, but try to keep an open mind. :)

Thanks for reading and sharing your opinion! I've just always thought that the questbook system was way to unrealistic.

I like it how we see every quest that is available. We see what Wynn has to offer and we can prepare ourselves to be in the next area for when we get to that level.

Yes, I get that. But it's not really realistic.
It would be more immersive with my suggestion. I get you're used to what we have now, and like it, but if you actually want to play the game like an RPG, our current system isn't quite right.

I agree that's it's unrealistic and I sort of get what you mean to be fair. But you have to remember you can only do those quests you see when you actually get to that level.

Yes, and that's why I don't think its necessary to have all the quests displayed. It won't make too much of a difference, but I feel like I explained my thoughts on it quite well in the"The Reason" section.
If you don't think it's a good idea, that's okay! That's why I made the thread.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it! :)

The problem in this isn't necessarily the quest book, but the way quest starting is worded on some quests. While older quests are likely to start off with something along the lines of "Go talk to this person", newer quests have been trying to stick to a format of "Yo, something seems to be happening here. Go check it out?", as if it was an observation made by the player, not a mysterious voice in your head telling you to do something. As more old quests get revamped and touched every update, it's likely that this'll eventually be resolved completely, but it doesn't seem like a primary concern.

As for having quests hidden, while it might be more realistic, it might not be too good for gameplay. Having to actively search for something that's existence you're not even aware of would likely result in players thinking it doesn't exist to begin with. Even with a tutorial displaying their usage, they'd still be easy to miss considering the size of the game's world.

And lastly, for your "hidden quests", you already have plenty of hidden discoveries which are essentially quests that simply aren't marked into your quest book. With the upcoming update, there's even going to be world events which trigger just by entering an area, and are essentially quests of their own.

It's as good as hidden anyways.

I guess some things have changed, though I'm looking through my quest book right now, and all its saying is "talk to x" "speak to x" "talk to x" "talk to x" "talk to x" almost 95% of the time.
I definitely think the wording should be fixed. Like "Find out whats going on at "x y z"" or "you heard somebody talk about something going on at "x y z" go and check it out"

I am unsure of what you're asking. Whether its sarcasm or not.
The ??? quest is as good as hidden as it could be in the questbook.
Every single quest has a tutorial, so no quest could ever be 100% hidden

Sorry, disagree. If it were like that, Most of the time i'd see 0 unstarted quests and 5013523 completed ones.

Despite how little supporters this suggestion has, I quite like it. Execution-wise, it could be better, because it is so vague, it can be anything in between from "horrendous" to "amazing". It would be good if you had an idea of how close you are to finishing all quests though, like showing how many quests out of all quests you've done and a percentage. This is a brilliant, albeit quite unpopular suggestion, mainly due to its lack of detail. If you could elaborate even more, provide some visuals, and be less vague, this suggestion would definitely be more well-received.

Wait, in the reality, when you got a book, the pages don't write themselves so the actual quest book is more realistic no ?

I know some persons will say "yeah but it's written when you can't do a quest". Yeah but the level is written so it can just be the charcater that tells to himself that he can't ;)

I think one of the main issues with this would be the difficulty in finding new quests. Many quests do not start in major cities, so players have a good chance of completely missing them during their adventures. I think that it would be nice for quests to only appear once the player is high enough level, so they would not be overwhelmed by information. The new quest book could show only completed, active, and available quests, but not show unavailable ones.

I think this is good idea for main storyline quests in the future, but side quests (that are pretty much all the current quests) should be shown in the quest book before starting. While it could promote exploration, a lot of players could easily miss some.

What if it only showed ones you can do like you said, but also ones that are coming up in like 1-2 levels? Still agree with the general idea, just a suggestion
