(game Design) Coordinates Are Terrible Game Design

reading coords is easy yall are just bad

 

It would be easier for me if the online map had a North arrow

 

That’s the problem. It’s too easy.

??? Why shouldn’t it be easy? Their whole purpose is to help players who got lost.

 

Honestly, not only in CotL might regular directions be confusing.

Imagine a new Molten Heights storyline and the NPCs are all like "yeah, once you reach that pool of lava, turn left until you are in front of a fire, then go right into the cave"

or Almuj Desert "so keep going straight until you hit that area with a lot of sand, then turn left into the other place with sand, then walk into the cave"

 

Recipe for disaster, for a lot of ingredients the location isn't even described and you don't get directions for any of them apart from the coordinates.

 

So... one quest out of 120?

Wynncraft is indeed meant to be for players slightly more intelligent than your average Minecraft player because of how complicating it can get, Being an RPG, One result of that which is arguebly both good and bad is that the vast majority of Minecraft players out there will simply find Wynncraft unenjoyable due to the lack of simplicity, That's at least the main reason as to why servers such as Hypixel with so basic and easily understood mini-games prosper while servers like Wynncraft remain with a dedicated yet still fairly small playerbase (This applies to quite a lot of general video games aswell- Watch how games such as Fortnite or Overwatch that appeal to a much more casual audience and are very simple and arcadey become extremely popular while most complicated story-based or RPG games don't get nearly as much recognition regardless of how good they are, With a few exceptions).

Removing the coordinates would simply make stuff even more complicated and less convenient, Which could result in even less new players staying, If they ruin your immersion I'd say just ignore them, A toggle option would be neat though.

 

Never did I say it was one, besides, it doesn't doesn't excuse said quest. It's also in Lazarus Pit and in Purple and Blue as a "puzzle". Oh and Master Piece and Beneath the Depths too (though I can excuse that one since it's at sea). And I'm pretty sure it's in The Hidden City too. Upon further research there's Rise of the Quartron too and even WynnExcavation Site D.

2. If you go in a vacantion, when you come back, how are you supposed to remember the last dialogue?
