Youtube Channel Improvements (55 Supporters)

As I was scrolling through Youtube the other day, I clicked on the Wynncraft channel and noticed that it only has 3 videos up. An idea I had was for the channel to have community spotlights of some sort in which top guild members, players with the most time played, people with the most kills, etc. would be invited for an interview, be it verbal or written. Please comment any other ideas you may have. Thanks for reading.

 

There was originally an idea to post timelapses of large builds on it, much like on Grian's channel's early days. It could've been cool for for example Ragni and Troms, but that never ended up happening. We also discussed the idea of allowing the CT to create content on it, such as in-depth analysis for the game features, work process, quest ideas etc, but that didn't end up happening either.

Would like to see the channel come to life, +1 support

I'd watch that! While i'm very much out of the loop with what's going on in Wynncraft at this point I would love to see some time-lapse builds and analysis on current mechanics of Wynncraft. Maybe some teasers for the next update suggesting its impending steps towards our door in time. Or just progress updates on what's been going on. Hell, someone invite someone completely brand new to wynncraft and have them make a playthrough with an experienced friend. I'll watch it. Haha.

 

Edit: Added in a poll. Another idea I had was for the channel to also talk about features of the game as it can be complicated for someone new to the game or a returning player to understand a couple aspects of the game.

The channel really does feel empty. Having videos explaining various game features and mechanics would offer as a great tutorials. Along with that, the channel would also be a great place to post teasers in forms of videos relating to the stories of the upcoming update, to get at least some sort of real excitement in the community. Timelapses of builds could also be done, so that people can really see all the amazing work done to this server.

I like the idea, simple but well thought out.
kinda like my idea to put the Wynncraft channel to good use with stuff you mentioned along with skits (it was talking about CraftedMovie, the cow himself commented on it)

like your ideas, hope this gets so much support that the cow himself sees it (or whoever runs the WC channel if he doesn't)

We made it to 21 supporters! I would say that 50 supporters is a pretty good goal.

 

I also think that discussing features that they plan to add in the future on the channel would be beneficial as it would allow the content team to get feedback from more people and decide if enough people like the feature for it to be implemented.

 

That's actually really cool, I'd love to see some of the CT members going through the process on how they made X quests. I remember one of them did a stream on that, where he showed how he did the Royal Trials sneak part of the quest or something. It was kinda cool and I'd like to see more of that

 

Maybe it will be better if you did walkthrough videos of quests done by Grian on this channel or maybe random players sending the video that they made about some quests that they have done you could also encourage them by making a contest or giving the person that makes the video 100-50 dollars depending in the quest difficulty/length. this could help make the youtube channel alive maybe ._.

 

I think putting wynncraft on Grians channel would drive his audience away. His audience is different to a wynncraft fanbase. Mentions about Wynncraft every so often might work. About the giving money away, cool but that is a bit too much.

Nice idea, however, interviews would probably be the same as the Featured Wynncraftian, and I don't know how you would put text in a youtube video, or why anyone would read text in a video rather than read it on the website. If you want the Featured Wynncraftian to happen by voice, it probably cannot happen, most players here are not english native, and thus are way better at typing than actually speaking english. Maybe someone could voice the interviews though... That would be great, but who?

Now, I'm going to go through the other suggestions people made, and explain what I find appealing and what I don't :

That won't happen, unless you mean teasers such as Salted posted. (The berries/the fish), this is basically because of what happened with gavel. Overhype, dates that weren't followed... And even though the province was huge, the update super great, it still felt somehow weird for the players who got overexcited for a great update, but not as great as they hoped.

Well, if that kind of content was made, that's probably something you could find on someone else's channel, not the official Wynncraft channel.

Why not, but I feel like most players will either :
Look at the website
Look on google
Ask for help in game

Rather than looking at a YT video.

I think this kind of thing will be done via the forums, not via a YT video. It is way more practical to use for the content team, thanks to polls.

There are people out there who prefer information from the Youtube format or just prefer a more "exciting" approach to getting information across as Youtube allows for much more customization than the forums.

That doesn't really solve any of the problems I said, aswell as the fact that youtube videos are way more work than a forums post, and Wynncraft works only via volunteering outside of administrators.

What? Like I said, youtube videos are an enormous amount of work, and not only is there already thousand of videos on how to do a quest, there are also a lot of videos on "how to grind" "how to start" etc etc etc.

Well, I could ask, because I'd love to do this (I could even make the timelapse myself, cause I have some experience with that)

plus I'd also like the CT to share more information with non-CT, but sadly we can'T tell you anything, the only thing I'll tell you is that whatever we are doing is going to be big

 

The same could be said for tutorials online on how to craft things, what certain redstone blocks do, etc. (I'm talking about your point of it being more work). Putting the information on Youtube spreads it to people who don't play Wynncraft but rather see it on their recommended, see how fun Wynncraft is and start playing on the server, people who play Wynncraft but don't enjoy reading the forums as they find it boring, and people who read the forum in the day and might want to watch the video because they're bored or just feel like watching Youtube and don't know what to watch.

P.S. It is more practical to use polls to understand reception to upcoming features but using Youtube would allow the Wynncraft team to be able to showcase the feature to a degree that cannot be reached on the forums (showing the feature in game, showing how the feature reacts to other feature of the game, etc.)
