Dungeons Dying In The Hive

For some of you that dont know when you die in the hive you usually get sent to either Eltom or thesead which, in my opinion is stupid.

Eltom as you know is over 500 blocks away from the hive and is through the canyon of the lost so it takes longer than you were fighting for to get back.

My idea is when you die you respawn back outside of the hive like a dungeon. This is good because then you don’t have to waste 10 minutes trying to find your way back to the hive.

This may be convienent, but the reason you probably died is because you're out of things to heal, so now you have to travel your 500 blocks to Thesead or Eltom in order to get your potions or stuff. Or go to the place that's called Thanos? (Hey cut me some slack, I haven't been there for awhile.) Either way, you're making the same trip back as you would forward.

 

This is something out of our control since Hive is offmap. It just plonks you down at the nearest city; 's why dying against Bob respawns you in Lusuco, for instance.

 

Honestly an easier solution to this would just be adding a scroll merchant to stupid Thanos

 

Maybe you could add an airship from Eltom to the Hive? It makes sense becouse Eltom has an airbase. Maybe even make it like VSS Seaskipper where you have to buy tickets to get a ride to the Hive. Make them expensive, but not too expemnsive and you even have small money sink, considering how ofte people die while doing Hive.

 

Fails lorewise; why would Qira allow such flagrant behaviour at her Hive?

 

My thoughts are ehhh maybe? I mean I can jnderstand the frustration of dieing spending forever getting back to a location Only to die again thats just annoying... But not annoying enough to have them bug fix it instead of working on more important things *cough* dern *cough*

 

I mean they could just drop you off close to the Hive Like you know, Skiens' Island?

I'd say molten heights storyline is more important then dern becouse we've been waiting for it for like two updates.

 

If not at the hive at least Thanos to save us some time

 

I think this also fails lore wise because as far as I'm aware the Dwarves aren't exactly super advanced and they have no reason to have an air base to a town filled with humans. I still think the easiest solution would be to just add a scroll merchant in either Thanos or somewhere else near the Hive, as the closest places you can use a scroll and get near the Hive are the Forgery/Cinfras and Thesead (Thesead's not terribly far away if you know how to navigate the Canyon but somewhere closer such as Thanos would be nice)

I’ve already made a thread like this in Feedback, but it was just in general. I think the best solution would be to have a command block setup where every time you enter the next room on a floor, it sets your spawnpoint in the lobby of the Hive. As simple as that. Maybe add a potion shop to the Hive too if you run out of potions.

Aren’t dungeons off-map areas too though?

 

Dungeons are specially set up to bring your respawn back to their entrance by way of being dungeons, and we can't exactly do that for quest areas.

 

I thought you could with command blocks or something. Didn’t Mojang give us the option to set the spawn point since 1.4? If not I’m sure you could do it with plugins. I’ve never heard of this being an issue in other servers.

 

I was going to say that they can't use clocks, but you can do that without a clock.

 

Can't you just use a tripwire, pressure, plate, or even another command to activate a /setspawnpoint command or something?

 

Yeah, that was what I was pointing at.

 

That isn't how the towns work at all and it would hoenstly fuck way more things up than it would seem. If I'm recalling this right, that would make the Hive become your PERMANENT spawn point no matter where you died.

 

Couldn't it be done through plugins then? I know they did it in Flight in Distress so it's not impossible.

 

Doesn't going into another town/city reset your spawnpoint again?
