Yeah it seems like this is not harsh or anything, I mean like yeah it's only a temp-ban. But I think one unreasonable rule that Wynncraft imposes is that it has a 2 ban rule where if you get banned the second time you will get a perm ban. I think this rule should be lifted and perm bans are given to people who actually deserve it like if they do something that the community will scorn over.

Refer to @7Red_Dragon7 's post and also consider the fact that not everyone is going to expect a rule like this when they've probably already read over them once before on the site (or they have never even visited the site). It's literally a stab in the back.

So its apparent that we really have differing stands towards this rule. But at the end of the day:
It’s not fucking hard to follow a fucking rule, even if it’s a dumb one in your eyes. We shouldn’t be wasting our energy and time on this anyway. Just don’t break it, and you will be fine.

I don't know if it has been suggested already (didn't read the entire thread), but I think Melted has a valid point that not every Wynn player checks the Wynncraft forums regularly for new rules. (Or is even aware that there are Wynncraft Forums.) Since you brought up the issue of how else to tell people about rules I actually have 2 easy to do ideas. 1) Make a chat command "/rules" telling you all the in-game rules (forum rules are obviously only necessary when you're using forums anyways)(similar to "/help")(don't know if such a command already exists) and have a chat Message every 5 minutes or so telling you to be aware of the rules and the option of "/rules". I don't think anyone would be annoyed by it if u have the right frequency. 2) Have a second chat message about any new rules you recently implemented. If there are to many just note that one should re-read the rules due to updates on them.
If you don't want these messages in chat periodically it would be also possible to have them when joining on a server.

I'm putting forth my opinion after reading this discussion thoroughly.
I think that people should have some personal/social awareness about their actions. If you know that posting a spoiler will ruin someone's fun, even if you weren't aiming that spoiler at them, you still ruined it. It's also just a jerky and mean thing to do, if you find joy in ruining someone else's fun and experience, you need to reconsider your actions. Think about your actions. If you know it's wrong, expect to be punished.

Let me just say now that "Literally" doesn't mean figuratively. By what you are saying, every single person on wynncraft has gone into your home, laid you on your front, and taken a steel knife and jabbed it into your back. learn language, my friend.

But regardless of that atrocious error, saying that some people aren't on discord isn't a good argument for the unreasonable rule. Since it is recommended by wynncraft to join the discord for rules and updates, they expect that you will be on the discord. It's not their responsibility to tell you wherever you are that these are the new rules, seeing as they have given you every tool to be able to freely access the rules and updates at any time simply by joining the discord. You simply can't blame wynncraft for you choosing to ignore updates.

No need to add toxicity to this about how I chose the word literally to emphasize the metaphor I made. Other than that, I’m curious as to how “atrocious” that error was to you? It wasn’t an error at all though. Did it really get on your nerves that bad?

Back to the rule, you said it was “recommended” that doesn’t mean it is required to join the discord. And the fact that more than half the population of Minecraft consists of 10 yr olds, I doubt they would be comfortable joining the discord when it is mostly used for talking over a microphone. It’s a very good argument against this rule. Also, players don’t choose to “ignore updates.” Instead, they should expect to have a fair warning IN-GAME if there is ever another rule to come up like this in the future.

the point is that every player has the means of finding out information at their fingertips. again you're saying that wynncraft needs to find a way to put forward extra work into making people not on discord aware, but thats not the case. it's not wynncraft's job to go to every end in order to inform you, its your job, and its disrespectful to blame it on them. If they hadnt told us at all about this rule change, and only updated their rules without informing the community at all, then we could totally get mad at them, but seeing as they didnt do that, its not their fault that the information happened to not reach some people.

again, the point isnt "how hard is it to inform people to a higher extent?"
the point is that you should be informing yourself. why have other people inform you when they have already given you the tools to inform yourself

It’s not informing people to a higher extent at all. It does not take much effort to make a new command in game. You make it sound like it would take hours of work. They also don’t really inform us clear enough because they don’t say “Oh by the way we have a discord and you should look at it because it has updates on our rules”. They just say something along the lines of “Wynncraft has a discord!” And that’s about it.

OMG its not about how much effort it would take, its about them taking any effort at all. you have every tool to stay informed! Also in the discord [info] bar, it literally says to receive updates and stay informed.

the staff should put all rules somewhere in game then, or at least on the forums
I'm fine with this new rule tbh, it's just that staff doesn't inform players well enough about it
