Game Design Switch Rare And Unique

Hello~

This seems to be something that should just be done, seeing as how unique means it is the only one of its kind while rare means there are normally more than one just that they are hard to get. Please let me know if you know why it is the way it is currently.

I think over all video games to this date, an item that is 'Rare' would generally be considered better or rarer than an item that is 'Unique.' Also, it's been that way for years, literal years, so it will probably stay this way.

 

as far as im aware, unique means exceptional or special, not that there is only 1 of it

Unique: Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.

But what you are saying makes sense

 

Unique means the item is a special snowflake.

There are multiple of Special Snowflakes with the same pattern.

A lot of snowflakes exist to make this a possibility.

Just think unique items are like this bad thing I just said.
