I really like the Rymek area, and I'm kind of sad it's only got like 2 or 3 quests related to it. Perhaps there should be more quests in Rymek, and I thought a good way to do that would be to put a quest in Rymek for the Boss Altar. A few of you might not even know about the Boss Altar in Rymek, which is exactly why it's necessary. Boss Altars are good ways to get strong gear, and yet you need to either look it up or be very adventurous to find them, and knowing which item and how much of it you need to access it is nearly impossible. It seems like a good idea to maybe just have a quest to show you where and how to access the bosses. Anyway, back to Rymek. There's already an NPC in Rymek who tells you about the boss's house, and when you check it, you get a really vague hint that you need 12 Coyote Fangs to unlock the boss. Perhaps make this NPC who tells you about it into a quest NPC, and when you talk to him he has the same dialogue, but it starts a quest in which you must go to this house, then something happens in the house (a cutscene or something), then it tells you to get 12 Coyote Fangs and bring them to the altar, then kill Rymek Luke or whatever his name was. Then do basically the same thing for every altar, and that's it. Also maybe a few more Rymek quests.

Ehh... I don't really like the idea of requiring players to have to go complete a boss altar, especially one which is as hard as Sunrise Canyon (although jp did fix the Arrow Storm full melee damage arrow things), and judging from the community's general dislike of The Passage, other people don't either. However, I do agree that Rymek could do with a few more quests. Maybe one of the merchant people (possibly one of the ones who aren't there at the moment in the Bazaar type place) needs to you to escort a cargo carriage and you have to fight off some bandits/wolves, repair a bridge, clear a rockfall, etc? I personally would quite like that. Yeah. Anyone else?
As for your issue with the mystery of Luke's house, maybe the guy could say something like, "I saw him on the Mesa today. He shot three coyotes with his bow. When I went and looked at the bodies, I saw he'd taken the front 4 teeth from each of the coyotes." Because, you know, simple maths, 3 x 4 = 12... Idk, I was making that up as I went along.

    1. Literally the passage
    He described it,
its a sound suggestion, dont be overzealous with your How to suggest thing,
He isnt suggesting a quest in particular, but some incentive to go to Rymek and to the Boss Altar

incentive to go to altar boss: https://imgur.com/CZOwtEm some of the stats were changed in december of last year, but they are still awsome. I believe it is now 8 def 8 dex 42% melee 39% thunder and 33% fire -1 tier -30% water. Perfect for a Dex Def Fire Thunder Build.

I'm saying they should suggest a quest, rather than just do the "leave it up to the devs" thing.

My suggestion wasn't so much about incentive as it was to let you know that they exist, and where they exist, because as they are they're quite hard to find, and to know what you need to get in.

    And?
I was talking just about this “boss altar” quest that had absolutely no detail.
Suggesting multiple quests with no detail is even worse.

Actually I just saw a post about this earlier where someone found Rymek Luke's house and saw a sign saying something about coyote hunting. Personally I don't think a random sign in an unmarked house should hold the key to getting into the altar either. Players need to know more about Rymek than currently. Right now it is an abandoned part of the game world with little player traffic as traversing the cliffs is unbearable without completing the Condor quest to activate the elevators, notably 1 of the only 2 quests in rymek (kingdom of sands and canyon condor). Hopefully the dern update adds more. #2018predictions?

Boss altars are meant to be optional content. The reason The Passage forces you into one is because it serves as an introduction to them, which then incentivizes you to find the earlier ones on subsequent playthroughs. In addition, the Tribal Sanctuary altar there is much weaker than any other altar boss, precisely because it's required to defeat. I'd rather not have to done down all the altars, seeing as people seem to consider any challenge we throw into the game a pushover already.

    well what quests

also there is already a quest that introduces the player to boss alter, called The Passage, but it's incredibly hard for it's level. I would actually like to see rymek be used for a boss alter quest, because i have never had a reason to go to the alter in the first place
    although detail would be nice

tbh tho, bovine barn should be in a quest to introduce boss alters, because rymek is lvl 30-40, while Troms is lvl 50-60
there is already a good amount of quests for the area. Ill list them all (including ones that use it, but isn't started/finished/done in the general area)
    Tribal Aggression
    Canyon Condor
    Kingdom of Sand
ok it's only 3 for the entire mesa, but each town generally only has 4 or so quests, if not less
The desert is better for quests because rymek is a side town, while Almuj is a big town, which houses many quests
by the time your done the 3 quests, your almost to level 39 which means the start of gavel quests. Nessak is the next place in wynn to go
so it's not really crucial but i mean it can be cool to have more quests there

ehh Tribal sanc is hard asf, tbh I'd rather take Sunrise Canyon as a boss altar quest since there is only Rymek Luke but no other minions (that zombie with a wand spams heal annoys me) that makes it easier to handle. However, as a lot of people said, give details of these quests.

The way altars work is the boss mob within gets a statistical buff of some degree. It is not always in proportion to each other, but health is buffed anywhere from 2-3x on average, and damage anywhere from 1.5-2x. The Tribe Zombie Chief got a 1.5x health boost and a 1.25x damage boost, so it is significantly weaker than any other altar boss at-level, seeing as most altar bosses don't just get a 2x health and 1.5x damage bonus. The Tribe Zombie minions are slow and don't do hardly anything, while the healers are very easy to deal with thanks to their crippling fire weakness and extreme knockback taken. If that much of a boost is giving you trouble, you'll never survive against the superbosses.
