I love to explore the map, it's really well done but always annoying when I try to climb over a mountain only to get near the top and not be able to move further up. Now I understand why they are there on map edges but in many places like the jungle, pig man ravines, or the gavel ocean border I don't understand why they are there. I can't think of a reason why invisible walls need to be put in place dividing two already accessible areas and it demotivates me to explore. Thanks

Getting out of the map has historically been a pretty big problem, so they went a bit overboard on the barriers. I agree that some sections could be removed or edited, but getting rid of them entirely is a terrible idea

The map is built on a superflat world, and beyond the main map lies all the off-map areas for quests, dungeons, etc. You shouldn't be seeing all the off-map areas, and you shouldn't even be out of the map in the first place. That's why players getting out of the map has always been a huge problem. Hence, the invisible walls.

Why there's are barriers between areas? The answer is: Mobs are placed to avoid low level players from accessing high level areas, if you could completely climb the Pigman's Ravine it would be really easy for a level 1 to get to Troms when the only way of actually getting there is through the great bridge, which is pretty hard for low levels and even high level players who get pushed to the "floor". that's why there are barriers between areas. We want you to explore the map, we don't want you to skip half of it climbing it.

Just like Pepinho said, there are some areas in the game that would be broken if you could get over.

Another example is Aldorei Valley. The only way in normally is by starting a quest at lvl 76, but instead you could just walk over the mountain and go to an area without legitimate means.

Plus, the Passage would be useless if you could just climb up over the mountain to get to Troms.

yea, unnecessary barriers all over llevigar and there are certain parts of the canyon of the lost that barriers are all over the place and they turned it into an invisible maze on a straight path

Can I at least go 1-way from (the path between Kandon-beda to the Colossus) to the ocean?

hate to break it to you
    but if barriers were removed
there would be a large increase in "out of map" bans

and you could skip the first part of King's Recruit.

    My question is... why?

Yes it would break some things but for the player to reach Troms as a low level, crossing the great bridge isnt hard... at all
get a horse and run as fast as you can, as long as no one before you crossed the bridge [90% of the time] The mob spawn time is too low and you barely ever get hit, I occasionally run across it taking 0 damage
    WITH A BLACK HORSE
if someone got a white they could run easily across

Why would someone want to go to Troms at level 1?
They still could, but it would be pretty much useless

I do agree with keeping barriers though, I just feel the argument above is a bit non fitting.

Tbf some barriers are placed when they dont need to be placed
