King's Recruit Improvement​

Hi guys!


i want to dedicate this suggestion about my king's recruit improvement idea but this is my first suggestion though :P


all of you must be know that king's recruit quest is only one of 113 quests (so far and not including special and holiday quest) that needed to be completed in order to finish play the game


Why i want to implement this idea??

• I and might be YOU (yes,you) the king's recruit is boring,we only follow the trail and boom end
• We need some backstory of our character,it's not cool if our character don't have any backstory
• Anything else?

The king's recruit now

Currently,in the king's recruit quest there are 4 stages that you need to complete.There is it:

Stage 1:Talk to the Caravan Driver

Stage 2:Follow the trails toward the castle

Stage 3:Enter the castle

Stage 4:Talk to the King


So my main idea is adding some backstory and thrill to this quest that can explain to some ‘newbies’ that what happened in the past


So,lets get the quest here

The story is you are a legendary soldier at fruma but get arrested because of "secrets" and you got a death penalty ,then....

Spoiler: Stage 1

you wake up at a guillotine then you hear villagers shouting here's the dialogue:
Crowd:KILL HIM!!
Crowd:WE DON'T NEED PEOPLE LIKE HIM
Crowd:TRAITOR!!!
Executioner:You,the hero will be get executed because..
You hear an explosion behind you
Queen:Its Rowind the archer guard get him!!
[New quest started]
You're fainted because that explosion got you,continuing to the stage 2

The second stage

Spoiler: Stage 2

You waked up inside a caravan
???:Hey,are you ok
Rowind:Finally you wake up i'm little worried are you hurt?
Rowind:You Oh,you are ok good to hear that.
Rowind:I am Rowind the archer your old friend, you remember right? iam here to save you,i know that it is impossible you did that.
Rowind:But i am forget to bring your weapon so you are now empty handed.
Rowind:You are hungry right? i will hunt some sheeps for you so just wait here they still searching for us,it is dangerous out there.
Rowind leaves you alone in the caravan continuing to the stage 3

The third stage

Spoiler: Stage 3

Rowind is not back to the caravan after a day you decided to search for him but you see a building,then you went there but you meet 2 bounty hunters that is searching for you,with empty handed you lost the fight.The dialogue
Bounty Hunter:Its him,the traitor we think will make a lot of money this day.
Bounty Hunter 2:Don^t kill him okay,last night the queen said that she need the traitor alive.
Bounty Hunter:Ahhh whatever.
It^s dark (you fainted again) untill you wake up in the fruma's castle and hear queens conversation,but you cant see anything because you got exhausted (apply the blindness effect) (making the fruma's castle a mistery)
Queen's Guard:There it is,the traitor,Queen
Queen:This soldier is not a traitor Rowind say that so,i forgiven him.
Queen:So what will we do with this soldier,Queen?
Queen:Wash his brain and sent him to Ragni,the capital of wynn.
Blam (Teleported to Ragni Outskirts (where you start the King's recruit quest,continuing to the next stage

The fourth stage

Spoiler: Stage 4

You wake up at a caravan (the starting point of the king's recruit quest)
Caravan Driver:Finally you^re awake but who are you?
Caravan Driver:You don^t know your name? its strange i think there all recruit already went ahead to ragni.
Caravan Driver:lets just assume you^re the last recruit,but why are you empty handed?
Caravan Driver:But lets get you armed first,take this emerald and buy a weapon from a merchant over there.
You went there and buy a weapon depending on your class.

The fifth stage

Spoiler: Stage 5

Talk to the caravan driver once more
Caravan Driver:Finally you^re armed.
Caravan Driver:The King is waiting for you in Ragni. That gate marks the entrance to the Wynn Province, so the castle can't be too far from here.
Caravan Driver:But,road to the castle is dangerous but fortunately you^re already armed.
Caravan Driver:Go along across this path you will meet a huge huge gate to ragni.
Go across the path to the ragni

The fifth and seventh stages should be same as usual king's recruit and the eighth dialogue is:

Ragni's King:Eh there is another recruit i think there is not any recruit left since a half hour ago
Ragni's King:But maybe its just my age problem,anyway nice to meet you what did your name?
Ragni's King:You don^t remember your name that is strange,but lets just call you adventurer
Ragni's King:Anyway welcome to Ragni,one of the oldest and most influential cities in the province!
Ragni's King:Your job as a soldier of Wynn is to stop the growth of the monsters that are ravaging the province.
Ragni's King:You might want to train a little more before hand, though. Many lives are lost everyday...
Ragni's King: ... Anyway, good luck! If you are lost, use wynncraft.com/map it is very useful if you don't know where to go.
Ragni's King: Take this 1 [Ragni Teleportation Scroll] too! It will bring you back here if you use it.

Explanation about this quest

• The first ,second and third stages should be at (little) fruma
• The second and third stages place should be somewhere at fruma plain
• The building i mentioned at the third stage should be tower/ruins/cave/dungeon/an ordinary house
• The area at the third stage is a small plain bordered with mountains/area that you cant enter
• The caravan at the second stage should be same as the caravan at the ragni outskirts
• When you entered the third stage you cant go back to the caravan anymore
• There are no hostile mobs at the third stage area
• when you meet 2 bounty hunters you don't really fight them,you only can't move an blam it's dark
• I mentioned i^m not i'm at the dialogue because it's prohibited using it on the yml code
• Rowind is inspired by Robin Hood and his skin should be like robin hood
• The explosion should be the arrow bomb spell
• You can't see Queen in this quest in order too keep the mystery :D
• If you want to ask any question jus ask me
• What did we do,and why people saying our character is a traitor is a mystery ;)

Now lets talking about this suggestion advantages and disadvantages
The advantages

• There will be some backstory of our character
• Some thrill is added in this quest
• More mystery why not? mystery is fun
• Explain the newbie about this game will be more effective a little
• Anything else?

The disadvantages

• The quest will be damn too long

So, you want the opening to every Elder Scrolls game ever?

The most apparent issue of implementing this suggestion is that the player is not meant to have any memory of their experience in Fruma; they presumably learn of it much later in their travels.

So basically, in most Elder Scrolls games, the player is condemned for a crime they have no knowledge of, and are sentenced to death. Some sort of event happens in which you escape punishment, narrowly, and you go off on your adventure. I'll link you the opening to Skyrim (5th elder scrolls game) to show you what happens.

I'd say the opening is pretty cliche in that sense. Also the fact that the queen of an entire province would pardon a suspected traitor, at the word of a random archer, seems entirely impossible. Treason to the state would likely be a crime punishable by death in Wynn's world (Given how most rulers have a pattern of being corrupt and completely lacking in any sort of ethics), so being sent to serve in another army, after having been a suspected traitor to the state, would be incredibly unlikely. Note, the player is sent as a Furman soldier to aid Wynn. The player's actions would reflect on Furma as a whole. Any right-minded leader (Or tyrannical megalomaniac for that matter) wouldn't risk their entire standing with the international community by sending a person, who recently was the subject of a national manhunt, to aid another province's struggle. That just wouldn't happen.

 

Wynn is a mmoRPG. The idea in a rpg is to
a) be what the story tells you to be (most often jrpgs)
or
b) choose what you want to be (most often western rpg)
Wynn is very B, as you can choose your class, skills, what edings in ceteran quests, what dungeons you do, what discoveries you explore....

Also if a player is new this will overwhelm them

this will severery hurt roleplay as it pretty much establishes your backstory,
you are a furmian rebel who almost got executed then plot ally helps you. If wynn is b, why would it establish backstory




Problems:
-Bad grammar
-bad desigan. what if when buying the weapon you accidentaly choose the wrong one?

Also have you played kings recuit after gavel came?
You now make a tree collapse to turn it to a makesift bridge, you help a solider out of a cage and it helps you kill some zomibies, you fight some, then you go to the main battle where dozens of soliders and zombies battle all around you, they say stuff like "You need to get out" then you run for your life to the gate

I think that is what happens in the quest. Not just
"walk some, kill some, boom done"

 

Woah boy that was fun to read, but here are my suggestions to improve the dialogue a bit, because right now it's a bit too expositional and forced.

Spoiler: Stage 1

Executioner: I'll admit.. I used to be your fan.. a legendary (class you chose), chosen by the nobles themselves to defend our empire from anyone or anything that wanted to harm us.. ever since I was a little boy I wanted to be like you.
Crowd: What are you waiting for?! Take his head off!!
Executioner: But you, (player name), you are a traitor.. and the laws of the gods reign above all else.. trust me, it pains me to do this, but now you must say your final words if you have any-

-You hear an explosion behind you!-

Imperial Guard: Who's that man? You there, finish the execution while we capture this archer!

-The executioner gets hit by a bomb arrow and you were caught by the explosion, your vision darkens and all you can hear are the yells of the desperate crowd-
[New quest started]

Spoiler: Stage 2

-You wake up inside a caravan-

???: Hey, are you ok?
???: Finally you woke up, I was worried about you, but luckily that explosion didn't harm you much.
???: Oh, you're ok then, good to hear that.
???: You remember me, right? Man, after all these years I finally got to see my old friend again.

- Memories about him start flooding back to you. Memories of battles, drunken nights at the inn, adventures, you start to remember your good old friend, Rowind the Archer. -

Rowind: Sorry man, but I couldn't get your weapons back, the guards took everything.
Rowind: You're hungry, right? Yeah, so am I. I'll hunt a sheep and start a fire, and then we'll keep moving. They are still looking for us.

- Rowind leaves you alone in the caravan continuing to the stage 3 -

Rowind has left the caravan for a whole day now, and worried about what could have happened to him you go outside and start looking for him.
You follow the road, but you're ambushed by two bounty hunters. Unnarmed, you were easily defeated.

Bounty Hunter: It's him, the traitor, the Queen will make us rich once we bring her his head.
Bounty Hunter 2: Don't kill him! The Queen wants him alive.
Bounty Hunter: Ahhh, whatever..

- One of the bounty hunters knocks you unconcious -

Spoiler: Stage 3

It's dark, you slowly open your eyes and see Rowind.

Rowind: Hey.. sorry about taking so long to get back, I saw those guys coming and I hid away on a tree. I was just going to check who they are, but.. sorry about that,
because of me you almost got killed.
Rowind: Listen, once the soldiers find the corpses of those bounty hunters, they'll probably think it was you or me who killed them. Either way, we would be murderers and traitors.
Rowind: We have to get away from Fruma, you hear me? You are no longer a fruman hero, or a traitor, you are just a foot soldier sent by the Queen to fight the corruption in Wynn.
Rowind: I know it's not the best place, but it is way better than losing your head, I'm sure of it.
Rowind: We will never go back here, alright? Never. Once you cross the borders you will enter Ragni, once there, talk to the Ragni King and he will either assign you to guard duty or send you off to aid other cities.
Rowind: I'll have to leave you once again.. I was a traitor way before you, and if anyone sees me with you, it's over.
Rowind: Remember, you're just a soldier now..

- Rowind gives you 10 emeralds and a hug -

Rowind: I managed to steal a bit of leather armour from the armory, you know, the stuff that new recruits wear.
Rowind: Here, wear it. Another caravan will come in a few hours, the driver is a friend of mine. He will take you there with the other recruits.

- Rowind gives you a leather boot and a leather chestplate. Both items only give you +1 health -

Rowind: Good luck, I hope to see you again soon.

Spoiler: Stage 4

You wake up at a caravan (the starting point of the king's recruit quest)

Caravan Driver: Finally you're awake. All the other recruits went up ahead to Ragni.
Caravan Driver: Rowind told me to give you this. It was from the recruit who was actually supposed to be here, but I think he doesn't need it anymore:

- He gives you the starting weapon for your class -

Caravan Driver: Alright, I'll go back to Fruma in a few hours.
Caravan Driver: Next time you see Rowind, tell him he owes me that Nemract Whisky he promised me..
Caravan Driver: I've always wanted to try it..
Caravan Driver: Anyway, you should be safe now, we're too far away from Fruma for anyone to actually know you.
Caravan Driver: Good luck.

Now the rest of the King's Recruit quest is exacly the same, except for Ragni's King's monologue:

Ragni's King: Another recruit? I thought the last ones came half an hour ago.
Ragni's King: But maybe it's just my age problem.. anyway, nice to meet another recruit. What's your name, young one?
Ragni's King: You're (player name) then. A strange name. There's a hero in Fruma with the same name as you, right? Or was it Siegfried? I don't know..
Ragni's King: Anyway welcome to Ragni, one of the oldest and most influential cities in the province!

Anyways, good thread! +1 for the concept.

 

I think these changes would make King's Recruit a hard difficulty quest and an execution scene as the first moments of gameplay and then finding a pair of bounty hunters soon after wouldn't fit for newbies and the type of content in the first half of the quest would normally be geared towards mid-endgame quests, also King's Recruit is a level 1 quest, so it should be kept simple, as it is the first quest in the game. And have you read the lore of the server yet?

 

about the bad grammar problem is i'm not good at english,i'm asian and a student that's why,but i'm trying to make wynncraft better

of course i played :D i didn't write that dialogue about cutting wood,help soldier,etc.because i'm too lazy and i haven't got time to write it because my mom said:
Mom:you only have 1 more hour to play computer,you need rest

The reason King's Recruit is so simple is because,
A: It's the first quest in the game, the tutorial level.
B: Lore, Fruma has a magic wall that erases the memory of everyone who leaves, you're not supposed to remember anything.

 

No, it was because I enjoyed reading it because it was a good concept. I just wanted to say it :p

Am I the only one who thinks did good idea because I love it!
1. Say if your a newbie to this server create your first account you want a good impressions and this suggestions makes that!
2. Its making the fun more rise.
3.Complaints about lore when there is no true lore yet.





This just like to point out and improvement 4 when you buy a weapon maybe there a weapon merchant like elemental exercise who re buys it and gives you the same amount of money back to re-purchase the correct weapon.

 

??? There is PLENTY of lore to find.

It's making the start very overwhelming and evenharder to understand what the game is about, because none of this quest fits.

 

We have a MINOR plot outline, and a whole bunch of outlying events.
The fact is, the lore behind the ??? quest series is more extensive than the lore of the actual story of Wynn.

 

It is confirmed lore that If you leave Fruma you get amnesia. Just Look up "Wynn tales: the isle of industry"

 

Eh,i'm not a newbie i'm playing like 3 years ago and stopped for a long time after the gavel update
