As already mentioned, it's a pretty useless suggestion. If a girl actually minded this (or an apache attack helicopter), they would complain about this. But I never heared about something like this from anyone..

 

I like roleplaying but if the game doesn't adress me as a gender I'm rping I don't loose my shit and demand that people who made the game change it to my every desire.

If they took it seriously Mythics would be balanced by @Selvut283, there'd be enough quests to play without being forced to grind for hours.
They are pretty close to a standalone game though, they just need to completely recode everything, including the Minecraft engine.

 

It's simply my opinion don't let it get to you there ok? I simply think you can just change it as if it was a small bug fix, that honestly wouldn't take that long.

 

"Not taking that long," in terms of real life and in terms of coding life are completely different things.
First they have to identify each quest with a gender pronoun, probably relying on players to find, or spending hours searching themselves.
They then have to find the exact words on the exact line, not to mention getting a GM to rewrite a few lines so it still fits with the quest.

1) All helmets in the game clearly expose the face (well, except for some head-based ones, but you're not wearing one at level 98, I'm pretty sure). It shouldn't be that difficult.
2) Royal Trials is a terrible example, as it's done in such a stupid way. So you go to the place where they hold the trials, the guard dismisses you as she can't see your gender under the helmet. Instead of taking the helmet off to show that you are a woman (if this is the case), you talk to someone else briefly, wander back to Ahmsord and come back in a wig. Nobody sees this as suspicious. The guard's supposed to be stupid, but the armour you're wearing has got to look distinctive to her. And don't say it's the pirate look of the wig, because your armour is definitely not pirate gear, and if she recognises the pirate wig, she surely recognises the non-pirate armour (and the fact that nobody is seen wearing anything like it in the area). It's even enough for some NPCs to recognise you as a Wynn soldier. Royal Trials is dumb, and the whole are-you-female wig bit is no exception.

I'm not offended by it, I just care about the dialogue being immersive. I think the solution is to bypass pronouns and gendered words being used to refer to the player entirely. After all they manage to bypass everything the player says. I also really don't like the use of 'they' instead, as it just feels clunky and ungrammatical in the context, and also trying too hard to be gender-neutral, which is always jarring. Things like 'boy' can easily be replaced by gender-neutral words with little change in the meaning. 'Kid' is common in Wynncraft, but in the context of Volmor in the example ('Ooh, you brave boy!'), it doesn't fit his vocabulary, but I think 'child' would actually fit his superior tone here. Similarly, pronouns can be avoided by simply changing the wording a bit. For example, Maxie could say 'just killed several despermechs' without adding 'by himself', or adding 'alone' or 'unaided' if something is necessary. In other cases it can be made more descriptive and interesting. For example, in General's Orders, an unnamed soldier says as you step up to the tightrope 'I'll bet you five emeralds he doesn't make it across.' By replacing 'he' with something like 'that lunatic', it adds a lot more character to the line, and also doesn't have a set gender. This is actually already done in a lot of quests, but you don't notice it, because GMs are able to make dialogue that uses it well.
The thing is, small changes to the text that correct immersion issues are not game-changing and we shouldn't be afraid to make small adjustments if they feel it would improve quality.

 

Seems like just changing the dialogue is the solution. But also kind of a waste of time...

 

Changing the dialogue for every quest to please a small bit of the community that could feel offended isnt worth it. Not to mention that quests are made in YML, meaning they have to download a file, edit it, and upload it, for every non gender neutral dialogue

And the royal trials concept was actually good. It had a unique aspect that every other quest didnt have

also, thank you for saying the bottom half, im not saying "go do it now" im simply saying if you ever get around to do it. It's something that annoys me slightly, it wouldn't be worth going out of your way for.

I doubt anyone is offended by it. we aren't feminist. sometimes tells me you have no idea what an actual rpg is.
and the game saying what gender you are is the reason we want it gone. that would be 100 times worse, because it's a, you know, rpg.
