World A Server With More People On It

    Hahaha detlas inst just a trading city, its effectively the central points where all the people who have nothing to do (which amounts t more than 180) hang out

    I'm talking about the fact that you'd have to switch servers every time you went into a new area.

    Actually, this is what most MMORPGs will do, but rather than having you switch servers, they force the switch, so say every time you went to Llevigar, you'd just have the load time for the Resource Pack, and a short blank screen.
    They usually have a couple dozen servers per day open, so 5 servers per map section is viable.
    Eastern Wynn
    Western Wynn
    Southern Gavel
    Northern Gavel
    Corkus
    This gives each section of map 300 slots, and if it automatically put you into the first server until it was full, then the second till it was full, and so on, it'd increase your chances of meeting players by a lot.

    However, that'd be long after the code refactor, as it'd be really hard to do.

    Just want to clarify a few things.

    A 180 player server is not equivalent to 3 * 60 player servers. A large single server is likely to have more performance issues than a few smaller ones for a number of reasons. The main reason, and the easiest to explain is that a few small servers will break up work more evenly for players - a single long running task on the server will not affect everyone playing but only the ones on the server it is taking place on. Additionally, that long running task is probably going to take less time as there are less players and entities to work with (this depends on what the task is actually doing, however).

    An "area" server system is what a few of you are talking about as a solution and yes, that'd be a really cool solution and would likely allow the max number of (apparent) players to be higher. Unfortunately, that's an incredibly hard thing to implement (especially since we aren't starting from scratch), to the point that it probably isn't worth it right now.

    I never said anything about adding it (or not adding it). I made a statement about whether such as system would work - a properly implemented system would also not affect you in pretty much any way.
