World Resetting Quests

DISCLAIMER: Probably a horrible idea, plus I'm trash at creating formats so...
So there's this problem (that I'm sure a lot of people have) that's created when you [accidentally] start a quest and never bother to finish it for various reasons.

When this happens, every time you want to look at a quest that's a higher level than some of the ones that you already started, you have to scroll through like 5 pages before you can finally look at a page in your quest book, then close it again. I know this isn't much, but [I think we can all agree that] it sure does get annoying at times.

My suggestion is that we get the ability to Reset a quest that is still in progress. You would lose all the quest items that you gained from that quest up until the point you are at [as well as all quest progress, of course], and the quest would be put back into the page it was at before you started the quest.

You can always just read the wiki

Seems like an awful lot of work when you could just go to the wiki. Having to start over is more annoying than scrolling through the book or opening the wiki, especially if you accidentally reset on something like ToL.

 

I agree with what Ganon said, also, this is kind of a pointless idea that would be hard to code.

 

Maybe there could be like a confirm button when you try to reset a quest so that you can't accidentally reset a quest

This video highlights the fact that resetting quests is not a simple matter - it would need to be coded separately for every individual quest. Given that the issue you're trying to fix is fairly minor, this isn't really worth it. A lot of the annoyance with scrolling through incomplete quests could be avoided by implementing Lotem's Quest Book suggestion, which would couse far fewer issues. Also, for things like the Qira Hive, it would be very difficult to delete the intermediate (in this case, elemental merchant) rewards. What if you have them in another class? What if you have more than one on you? We don't want people going around with infinite Hive elemental gear, its limited supply is a major balancing factor. And I can just see people finding a way to both reset a quest and complete it, earning infinite XP. Sure, we could ban them, but it'd be better if it wasn't possible.

 

Finish your quests. I only have three that are unfinished, but Bob is included in one of them and the tower in the other.

they're just so useless and not even worth completing. I didn't mean to start them, I just clicked on the NPC's on accident. They give like no xp compared to the lvl I'm at rn, and that time could be better used lvling up

Who cares about XP? The quests are funny and witty.
Tbh if there was no xp reward I'd still do the quests because they're fun

 

I would chose completing quests that are funny and witty and are around my lvl first, rather than doing the lower levelled ones first.

As for the wiki, I'm not sure about you guys, but ever since it started getting hosted by Gamepedia, it's always been extremely laggy for me. When I keep both the wiki and Minecraft open at the same time, I start to get horrible frames (like 10 fps, literally)
