Disclaimer: This is not a rant
Disclaimer: Bet you thought this was a rant
Disclaimer: Don't take too much stock in what I say. This my opinion. You can have yours. Post it down below in the comments. No flame wars please, healthy debate should be the norm here.

Now. Inflation. If you didn't know what that is, heres another disclaimer: its why shit is so expensive. The rich are super rich while the poor can't afford a Pure.

Why is this a problem? This is a problem because inflation is what drives prices up. And higher prices means theres less of a chance for you to get that sexy warp that @Stag2001 has, because hey, do you have 50 stacks? Didn't think so. Unless you already have 50 stacks. In that case, disregard that comment, because you're rich.

Why is this happening? Inflation is caused by too much of a certain currency = less value in said currency. Less value in said currency means that it takes more of the same amount of currency to buy something. Seem complicated? Here's something more easily understandable

    Island
    4 trees on Island.
1 apple tree, one orange tree, one bananana tree, one mango tree.
Everyone agrees that 1 apple = 1 orrange = 1 banananana = 1 mango. (disregard personal taste in this example)
    But oh wow.
Suddenly, there are 10 apple trees.
Do apples look so valuable anymore? No! Why? There are so many apples!
What about oranges and banananana and mango?
Theres only 1 orange and banananan and mango tree.
But there are 10 apple trees!
So 1 apple is no longer worth 1 orrange the tree farmers say. Theres so many of them apples to share around!
Maybe 5 apples are worth 1 orange now!
But what about the apple tree farmer? He only has 3 apples as of now, because they used to be so much more valuable.
Sucks to be him! Or her! Don't assume genders!

Thats right. Most of Wynn are apple farmers, while the lucky few own oranges and mangos and banananaas.

Emeralds and LE and EB = apples
Mythics = Mangos and bajsnjwdjnawdwwnwa mdijnhuba and oranges

Theres so many emeralds in the system, that it completely devalues itself. There is a constant stream of emeralds going into the economy, and not much is being removed. Just circulated. So more apples are pouring in, while little oranges and bannwjndjaw are found. And mangos too.
So since theres such a demand for banananas, and theres such a large supply of LE and EB and E, the value of E is compeltely devalued.
While the value of bananana only goes higher.

    Proposals to fix Inflation

Right now, the problem with inflation is that we lack money sinks. Currency is going in but not going out. Sure, theres the item buyer (evil) and the identifier and the detlas bank hopper but its just not enough. Mythics are getting found over and over and emeralds are looted over and over and over and over.

    So add more money sinks.
    Easier said than done though.

The problem now is that if you add a super large money sink to counter the rich, the poor are hit even harder. And angry players means no server. Boo hoo.

But what if we could add an acceptable money sink that scaled with level of wealth?

    Introducing Item degration.

Basically now, all items have a durability. You wont lose an item if it hits 0 durability, but you wont be able to use it. You can repair the item at the blacksmith, a new NPC, for a price which oscilates regularly. The mods and devs will set the price of repairing an item manually, based on the current economy. For example:

    Normal: 100/100 durability, 10EB to repair 100%
    Unique: 150/150 durability, 30EB to repair 100%
    Rare 250/250 durability, 1LE to repair 100%
    Legendary 400/400 durability, 3LE to repair 100%
    Mythic 1000/1000 durability, 25LE to repair 100%
*Note that items do not degrade in duels, and these prices are EXAMPLES! EXAMPLES! EXAMPLES!
As suggested by @LordMuttonChops. Thanks Mutton!
*Price would scale with level. As suggested by @Nyam. Thanks Nyam!

*ALL FIGURES HERE ARE EXAMPLES EXAMPLES EXAMPLES! Please no more comments stating that 'I wouldnt be able to afford this.' Say HOW you could improve this first! ALL FIGURES HERE ARE EXAMPLES EXAMPLES EXAMPLES

    Pros:
    Acceptable way of money sinking
    Scales with wealth.

    Cons:
Takes alot of time to set individual prices

    Introducing stronger death penalties

    Introducing Auction Houses

In every major city there will be an Auction House. There players can sell and trade their wares via ingame shops, which makes purchasing much easier. - No hassle with the forums and timezones, if someones selling it, you can buy it. Items will be given to NPCs, who will resell at significant markups

    Pros
    An overall useful feature
Bonus of being a money sink

    Cons
Will take an amount of time to code

    Introducing Vanity Items

Not just aesthetics. Hold developer competitions and lotteries. For example, have people pay money to name a street in a city, or an item.

    Pros:
    Bants and money sinking
    Everyones happy
    Poor arent affected too much
    Money is destroyed, not circulated.

    Cons:
Cant think of any. Post em

    Introducing permanent buffs

20% walkspeed when out of combat for 1LE x your level
    Things like that

    Pros:
    Just a cool extra moneysink

    Cons:
Too many buffs and OP players = less fun

    Post ideas down below
Criticise me. I'd rather you not hide behind a mask of white lies.

These all seem like good ideas, except this one right here
I feel like that would give players an unfair advantage still, as the rich get to be faster and/or stronger than poor players. However, if this was added in conjunction of the other systems, then it might work.

    Other than that, great thread!

I honestly think that's a bit harsh mate.
Also not all mythic owners also have a ton of LE, Most just spent all of it for the mythics.
I really really don't like the idea of item repair, What if you want to just test damage? Or duel players for fun?
I can think of a whole lot of others ways to make money sinks in the game without forcing players to go bankrupt.
    -Powder extraction
    -Guilds
    -Rework horses

And what if the weapon breaks mid-fight or in the middle of Legendary Island? You will need a ton of work to make the "Repairing" merchants accessible in all these locations.
The amount of chaos that will happen if such feature will get added is going to be intense.
The economy will get fixed eventually.
But it's not up to us how or when.

I do agree with all your other points though regarding inflation and how to fix it.

That Idea needs more refinement. Durability only decreases when spells are cast? And spells in duels do not count towards durability lost. I'll edit that.

Ideally, guilds would be a money sink after they're fixed. Perhaps progression in the new system will require constant money input. This would of course have to be worth it, so perhaps have bonuses to players when in their own territory or something, or bonuses based on guild level?
Wouldn't that make water builds way more expensive to maintain? I'm not sure that's a good thing, but if you count melee then air and thunder will be at a disadvantage. Maybe it could be based on the number of mobs killed?

Another idea - powder degradation. Use of a powder special decreases the powder durability, and when it reaches zero the powder goes down a tier. You can refresh the powders for emeralds at a powder master, that resets them to full durability, based on tier and number of powders.

I mean, I see where you're coming from; items costing stacks of le is a bit much. I can't even fathom how people even store that amount of emeralds (inventory management, yay). Often times, though, those cases of stacks of le trades come from players who have spent the time to get those le. That amount of emeralds was earned through a lot of grinding and doing quests. So the reason we have people with vaults of le are because those are the people who spent the most time on the server.

The economy is too far gone now for any change to actually be "fair." The moment something new is introduced, the "whales" of the server will use their vaults of le to give themselves an unfair advantage. I mean sure, it gets rid of some of the currency in the system, but it might cause damage to the overall economy and experience of Wynncraft. I think the root of the problem lies within the players and how prices are determined. Who determines that a Mythic or a white horse costs stacks of le? The seller and the buyer; the people who play the game. The problem is that we're okay with prices being as high as they are, not necessarily that there's too much emeralds in the system. Although that may be the case, reducing the currency in the system is not the end solution. I'm afraid the end goal should be a change in player attitude. Which will never happen, I'm aware.

I would like to make it clear, though, that this is a very well thought out post, and that is does bring up a very big issue in the Wynncraft servers. And mythics and horses going for banks full of le is bogus at times. I just feel "money sinks" are not the solution here. Either people won't buy into the idea or they'll be abused to the ends of the earth.

Shouldn't this be under general suggestions?

I have like 2 mythics and I can't afford that given that my money went towards those mythics. Not only that but durability systems don't really fit wynn's style imo.

No, no, and no. The current death system is fine as it is.

Eventually you'll run out of roads to name, items we already have the item naming contest.

As for permanent buffs, no for obvious reasons that you even stated.

Overall a no to these as they would cause more problems than they fix.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most rich people just sit in detlas and never use their weapons?- Thus, no durability damage, no deaths, etc?

Other than that, I like them all, except for the buffs one and the harsh death- why would ANYONE do, for example, ANYTHING HARD? - like legendary island, wybel, etc etc- Also, this would lead to threads about "I lost all my items to lag"- And it would be 110% true.

I don't think that this will function at all the way Wynncraft currently works. I think legendary island is a good example.

As it stands now legendary island accessories are very difficult to get for your average player. You have to fight through 10 bosses, some with spells strong enough to one shot unprepared players. To get the best value out of this challenge you must complete the entire boss rush multiple times. Will people bother with this challenge anymore if death punishes the player this much? Will people bother investing in endgame builds at all if they risk losing everything to simple mistakes?

As these are all great ideas, none of these will work permanently. The only change that will fix the economy is a complete emerald wipe, and even that wouldn't last forever. The rich people might be different players than before, but there will still be an overwhelming wealth gap. This is all because of Ziph's law, most commonly found in language, is the law that more popular things will become even more popular, while the less popular things will not get much anywhere. A "less popular" player might be able to find a mythic which will make them "popular" but the wealth gap is still too extensive, and the chances of finding a mythic are pretty poor. So unless a suitable option is created that can be uses as an emerald sink, this problem can not be fixed.

This is an awesome thread. I mostly agree with everything but the buffs.
Since I started wynncraft, the only thing it was truly missing IMO is an auction house. It's a powerful tool in many MMOs, allowing the poor players to finally get good gear without going to the trade market. The trade market, right now, is pretty confusing for new players. First off, you have to create an account and post 10 messages. That's why every so and then you see people spamming posts.
It allows players to easily sell and buy their items. The game would be more accessible than ever!

What could be done also is a reset. Not a server reset, just resetting the player's money for everyone. Of course, the playerbase would be angry and that's understandable.
