So, i'm sure many of you have noticed that some of the new members misunderstand the 10 messages thingy and go ahead making 10 profile messages/posts, often causing some spam in the main page.
Here, i suggest to change the little message that appears before you start writing in the message box for the people who still didnt post 10 (actual) messages. Basically make this

be something like this

Once 10 real messages have been posted, the message in the box would become like it is in the first image.

Tell me what you guys think.

Sounds neat! Though new users sometimes tend to ignore even obvious warnings, so maybe we could take it even one step further and have a one-time-only popup or something similiar?

That could work, but i feel like popups get even less attention.

 

Maybe this could be taken one step further to have a small message pop-up (or the like) that says something along the lines of:
"To stop bots from posting links, there is a 10 message limit on our forums before you can post them. To get 10 messages, try replying to threads or adding constructive criticism to a thread in the General Suggestions section."

As much as people may still try the "Race to 10 messages", it might help newer members from spamming so much.

 

Good idea, but i'm not too sure if everybody is going to pay attention to that. However people will have to read in the message box to even find out it is a message box, some people are not very familiar to forums.

 

Your suggestion could use improving, which is why I fixed it.
