Am I The Only One? Can I Remap Spells Please?

Hi. New player here. I'm guessing this game is years old and probably not up for major changes.

I'm years old too. Back to the days when JRPGs were fun and you had to click a button to advance NPC speech.

This is a very old habit. Years old, and it's very hard to get rid of or "just stop doing that" because the quest text comes slow. Too slow for my brain to say, "just wait, it's coming" and instead it says, "Not fast enough. Must press button to advance quest!". It's caused me a number of problems in this game.

Let me explain,
I've chosen warrior which means that when I click to advance NPC speech, I use charge, causing me to screw off past the NPC I'm talking to. This would be super swell if there could be literally any other spell bound to R-R-R and the charge could be something more conscious like L-R-L or some other key combo as I've charged into water, off a cliff... and the magical thing that made me create a forum account?

I found Bilbo's house. Which meant at the ending, I went to talk to the NPC and just launched myself into a deep pit of lava instead of enjoying the ruddy quest. Please. Can't I remap spells? Can't the game remap this stupid spell or remap the "talk to NPC" button so I can press it to my heart's content?

I've actually had a very similar issue, to the point that if you watch me do quests closely, you will see me turn backwards before talking to any NPC. It's probably a hard fix on the servers end, so fir now, I would just try to be careful when chatting with npcs

No, you cannot remap spells or other game functions, and like what @skyreach said, use something other your weapon or use the archer class.

 

Tl;dr don't allow casting spells while looking at npcs

 

I always look down while talking to them .-. That way i can charge and talk at the same time x)

 

But…charge spam

 

The thing I like about the charge spell is that R-R-R perfectly suits it.
When you charge spam to get across entire canyons, it is much easier to just spam the right mouse button instead of doing "R-L-R-R-L-R-R-L-R..."
Also, just do what I (and everyone else) does: Don't hold your spear while doing dialogue.

 

yeah, it's annoying. The best we can do is not hold our weapons right now
