Floating Island Lore Idea

Hi! I hope you are here because you too feel that the floating island near the Underwater quest on the Coastal Trail needs some Lore. Or you are here to tell me that my idea is already a thing and that I am stupid. Either way, thanks for reading. My idea was that because the waterfall that falls from that floating island that always seems to have a loot chest flows directly into the ocean, it should be the island that started the ocean.

Before any province was inhabited by intelligent lifeforms, there was a giant valley between the Gavel and Wynn filled with volcanoes. One day, a magical floating island formed on the coast of what would become Wynn and began to fill the valley with water. As the valley began to fill with water, the volcano's eruptions created land in certain places of the ocean. This is how the islands came to be. As years passed, the volcanoes eventually became dormant and broke down, except a few, but that is a story for another time. The islands were formed, some bigger than others, and now only needed people with boats to come inhabit them. We all know what the outcome of that is and it all started because of a small, magical island.

The island continues to fill the ocean to this day, although its magic prevents the ocean from overflowing into the provinces. Its magic also creates loot chests on the top of the island for all players to enjoy. Let's give back to this island by giving it some Lore to its name. And maybe an actual name too, but that's also for another time.

 

That's...rather complex for a random floating island.

 

Wouldn't it be cool if the island's loot chest only spawned water weapons? :P

 

It would be pretty anticlimactic if we made a quest about a 5x5 floating island.

Not a quest, just some lore to give to its name.

 

But where do you put the lore?
How about putting it in a house in the Sky Islands, or just some random book npc in Maltic?

 

That's a good idea, there could be a book NPC in one of the houses of Maltic. That would make it a more exciting town to visit too.

 

Oh, so this island is what generate every water of the world ? Seems good to me, we can't say it's cause of rain, because there is not enough space to containe space, while on Sky Islands, the Islands can contain hidden water in caves, so rain work for here. :D

Fits into wynns lore where everything is out of wack with power,

I.E. little stick creates Tsunamis,
A villigar man has more hp than som demon

Well, think about it; in the real world, not every little thing has a backstory, much less one as complex as that in this thread. Even if you argue that it's fantasy, that doesn't mean "everything that exists is important." Some things just are.

 

Seems like that little island does a little to much cmon creating pretty much all of wynn

Everything has a story, even an apple.
It have grown, maybe a worm was able to get in it.
It was collected by someone.
Crushed somewhere in a random industry.
And now it's part of a stewed apples.
And maybe, it will end in your stomach.

 

Bullshit. That's not a backstory. That's just existing.

While everything has a history, that's different. Very few things have important events in their own history. I even said this, though you chose to cut that out to help your point. You've also cherry-picked; how about a different example? Say, a rock. It's formed, it exists, it is destroyed. Nothing more, nothing less. Or perhaps a cloud; it begins and it ends. Perhaps it goes through a few interesting shapes or causes some rain, but it doesn't have lore.

The point is, there's hardly anything in reality that has influenced anything major whatsoever in history. There's no need for such backstories either. Some things just exist, and that's ok.

 

Apple + Newton.

 

1. It's highly doubted that the whole "apple" thing actually happened. He was inspired by the notion, not the act.
2. Once again, cherry-picking.
3. That's the history of Newton, not an apple.

 

Are we sure Bob did something ?
Are we sure that Siegfried is a real hero ?

The apple influenced Newton life.
This Island can influence our lives.
