TL;DR since I'm nice - Add weapons/armor that can be craftable using special parts obtained through guild wars, mob drops, merchants, dungeons, quests, and possibly a new swarm-like event. Crafting can be done with a specific table in a city and will have a different GUI than vanilla crafting. Craftables can give exclusive IDs/armor.

Also, anything with "Discussion Note" before it means I'm encouraging you to try to discuss your opinion on it and modify the idea if you can.

Thread made for Dark Theme. Use it or burn in a fire suffer from yellow text at certain parts.

I'm sure this idea has been suggested a few times so far, but here's my take on it.

    Craftables.

Weapons, armor, accessories that you can get by crafting together a base item and parts.

    I. Ingredients.
Parts and base items? This is confusing, said you (probably).
Parts are miscellaneous items that you can get through a number of ways:
    1) Killing specific monsters.
    2) Buying them from merchants - these ones should be untradeable in order to prevent merchants from going obsolete.
    3) Completing dungeons.
    4) Winning guild wars.
    5) Completing a new swarm-like event (I don't have this one thought out yet. Maybe a conquest for a captured city or the sort, sort of like a guild war but with more objectives like capture points?)
    6) Quests (These should also be untradeable).
    7) Maybe chests? This would really screw over loot runners though, since their inventories would get even MORE clogged than they already are.

Note that some parts can be only obtained through specific ways - for example, you could get a "Worn-Out Gear" from Corkus bots, completing the Fallen Factory Dungeon, buying them from a merchant in Corkus City, and/or winning them from guild wars fought in Corkus territories.
However, "Worn-Out Gears" cannot be obtained through other mobs (example: Demon Cave mobs), Wynn dungeons, other merchants, and guild wars fought in other provincial territories.

Another example would be being able to get a "Granite Shard" from merchants, but not mob drops.

If this suggestion was added, there shouldn't be TOO many types of parts in order to reduce the searching and hunt for the parts, but there also shouldn't be TOO few in order to encourage trading between players.

Base items are a new type of item that cannot be used (similar to depressing weapons, but you can attack with those). They are just a base/template that is used for adding the parts onto and for specifying what kind of weapon/armor you want for your respective class/armor slot.
Base items can be obtained through drops and chests (possibly about as uncommon as rare items).

Here's some examples of crafting ingredients. They should have some sort of rarity, sort of like items (but they'd most likely be different than item rarities). The higher the tier, the harder it is to get.
    Common
    Uncommon
    Fabricated
    Potent
    Mystical

Worn-Out Gear (already stated in thread), Common: Dropped from Fallen Factory, Corkus bots, merchants in Corkus, doing guild wars in Corkus territories
Chainmail Scrap, Common: Found from doing guild wars
Demon Flesh, Uncommon: Found from Demon Cave mobs
Enchanted Quartz, Fabricated: Found from merchants in Llevigar
Corrupted Concrete Piece, Potent: Found from mobs in the Corrupted Decrepit Sewers and dropped from the Corrupted Decrepit Sewers
Tightly Packed Snow, Common: Found from mobs near Olux, Nessak, and can be dropped from Ice Barrows
Torn Seasail, Uncommon: Found from merchants in port cities/ocean cities
Golden Tooth, Fabricated: Found from any sort of Bandit mob
Angel Feather, Potent: Found from Harpies, Angels, etc.
Steel Rod, Fabricated: Found from merchants in Corkus
Haunted Spirit, Mystical: Found from mobs near the House of Twain and from mobs in the Ice Barrows
Ever-Lasting Flame, Mystical: Found from fire-based mobs
Barren Ice, Uncommon: Dropped in Lusuco and Nessak by Ice Golems (Suggestion by @SaltyPhox)
String, Common: Any spider entity really (Suggestion by @SaltyPhox)
Ghostly Shard, Mystical: There are these elemental shards dropped throughout wynn (Suggestion by @SaltyPhox)

Discussion note A: Some recipes should also include junk items/pre-existing misc. items as ingredients - this would give junk items more of a purpose instead of activating boss altars/using them as quick pocket change.

Discussion note B: Some recipes should include pre-existing weapons in the recipe, in order to make a stronger version of it.

    II. Exclusive Shit.

according to my sources, there's too many IDs already
I guess exclusive specials could be a thing, somewhat
These items should also give exclusive IDs and/or pre-loaded specials on them. If they have pre-loaded specials, adding any more T4+ powders onto it will not override the pre-existing special.

    I
have given some examples of new IDs/specials that will be exclusive to these. Note that these are NOT balanced in any way, but are food for thought.
Special Charge: Changes the amount of damage it takes in order to charge your special.
Special Power: Amplifies/lessens the power of your special.
Spell Cost: Normally, it takes about three repeated uses of a spell in order to start ramping up the spell cost. However, with this identification, it will take less or more uses of a spell in order to start making it ramp up.
Combo: Damage is ramped up/ramped down based on successful hits in the past few seconds.
Projectile/Melee Defense: More defense versus specific types of attacks.
Precision: Sort of an aim assist for weapons. Essentially enlarges the hitbox of your attack.
Blood Link: Nearby mobs get damaged for a fraction of your damage on melee attacks.
Slow: Slows mobs' move speed down.
Constrict: Slows mobs' attack speed down. They can still move, but will have reduced/no attack speed.
Double Edge: Attacks that hit do bonus damage. Attacks that miss damage you. (Probably won't have a negative in order to prevent doing bonus damage on a miss or healing yourself by missing.)
Absorb: Charges through damage. Use your special to release the absorbed hits and deal a lot of damage and knockback around you.
Mechanize: +Attack Speed for about 10 seconds.
Decoy: Plant a decoy in your current location. Mobs currently targeting you will switch target over to the decoy, until you attack them.
Bloodthirst: Passive special. Gain buffs based on mobs killed in the past few seconds.
Manastorm: Gain infinite mana for a very short amount of time (~2 seconds).
Flame Shield: Mobs that get too close will be set on fire/damaged. You will take less damage from the front while this is active, at the cost of walk speed.
Hyperdrive: +Attack Speed, +Walk Speed, -Defense. Once this special is used up, you will continue to have some -Defense, as well as -Walk Speed and -Attack Speed.
Mist: Summons a mist that causes mobs to become confused and attack nearby mobs instead.
Electro Burst: Stuns and damages mobs in a certain radius. Will also slightly damage the user upon use.
Barrier: You take no damage for about one to two seconds.

    III. Recipes.
What about the recipes, you may ask? How will you know what to use to craft the items?
Recipes will be learned on level-up. You can unlock recipes for gear higher level than you, but only by a few levels. You can still craft them, you just won't be able to use them.
Some recipes will be learned through quests, others by crafting specific weapons.
You will be able to access all of your available recipes in the crafting GUI.

Discussion note C: Some recipes should be hidden entirely from the player and can only be found by experimenting with specific combinations. Once you have crafted these "hidden" weapons, they will be available in your recipe list.

    IV. The GUI/Crafting.
So, we've gotten past all the technicalities. Let's get to the juicy part, the actual crafting.
Where can you craft these weapons?
Most cities will usually have a special crafting table that you can click on to activate the crafting GUI.
Here is a shitty GUI that I made in about three seconds in FireAlpaca. I have marked each important part with a number, which I will refer to below.
    gui.png
1: Base part. Put your base part here for crafting.
2: The crafting grid. Notice how it's bigger than the vanilla GUI. Order of the items doesn't matter, either. You can put your parts in any order you like to (and yes, you can draw a dick using parts inside the grid and it will still craft).
3: The product. When you successfully craft something, the product goes here. Note that unsuccessful crafts will not eat your items.
4: Recipe list. It shows you every recipe that you can craft at the moment.
5: Craft button. Click to craft your marvelous piece of gear that you'll probably wear for only five levels, then sell it to the Item Buyer later.
6: Question marks/placeholders. When selecting a recipe in the Recipe Menu (and yes, you can do that in order to get a "blueprint" of the recipe on the grid), these will signify what you need to craft the item. Item placement still doesn't matter, but it's recommended for larger recipes. Hovering over the placeholder shows you what part should go there (but if you're a rebel, you don't need to put it there).

Discussion note D: There should be a next button on the crafting menu for REALLY big recipes.

These new items should theoretically be more powerful than merchant items (and possibly dropped items) depending on how hard the parts for them are to get. For example, if a weapon requires only parts that are commonly found, they would be around the same strength as merchant items. However, if a piece of armor would take a lot of rare items to make, they should be more powerful than dropped items (probably not as powerful as mythics, though).

    V. Conclusion???
Well done, Timmy! Now you know how to craft and the basics of crafting! But hold your 24 EB brown horses, this isn't even a thing yet! It's only a suggestion!
That means we need to go over the pros and cons of this suggestion.

    VI. Pros and Cons.
    Pros:
    -Money sink.
Merchant-exclusive parts and good weapons will encourage people to drop a few LE on the gear they REALLY want, with those cool and new specials and IDs.
    -Encourages trading.
In order to get Weapon A that Person A wants a lot, he might trade away some of his Parts B to make Weapon B that Person B wants, who has Parts A.
    -Promotes guilds.
Guilds have been in the shadows for a long time. This might just bring them back to their former glory.
-Promotes community teamwork (only if Discussion Note C is implemented).
If Discussion Note C is implemented, it means community members would have to try to have to work together to find new recipes. However, this is also sort of a con, so hints SHOULD be given out around the world for these recipes.
-Encourages diversity of builds and where to find gear for builds.
-New identifications and specials would drastically shift PvP metas and bring new playstyles.
-A new swarm-like event could possibly bring back old players and give an incentive to play for longer, as well as encouraging teamwork and parties.
-The emphasis on guilds would cause the developers to have to fix guilds.
    #FixGuilds
    -Encourages grinding in new areas.
No more Demon Cave spamming. You might not get as much XP, but you get some coolio weapons in the process.

    Cons:
-"o but sorae its too hard to code!!!!111"
    True.
But if this was to be implemented, it would be implemented by the same people who made a Minecraft server into a whole fucking completely different game.
It's definitely possible, if you don't mind the Jumcode and bugs.
-Currently existing weapon/armor/accessory merchants might go obsolete.
In order to fix this, the prices of the gear sold from these merchants might have to be lowered. Depends on the availability of really good craftable gear at that specific level, though.
-It's in the General Suggestions subforum.
Not many people actually view suggestions all the way. I mean, this is the only place where I can post it, so I can't really complain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-My special/ID ideas are horrific and unbalanced.
It's honestly up to the developers/GMs what they want to add and what they don't. If they were to add this, they would obviously have to balance out my ideas. I'm not a good balancer, so I sadly can't do that.
    -It's pretty generic.
Most games nowadays (and I'm treating Wynncraft as a separate game from Minecraft here) have some sort of crafting system, especially Steam games. These games don't really have that much of a reputation at all.
Also, it might be too similar to Minecraft's crafting system and could be looked down on that way.
-Nobody on the Aurelion Discord would actually give me feedback beforehand, meaning I'm going to get bombarded with criticism.
    pls
-It could potentially make dropped weapons go obsolete, too.
Cool and New ID and/or Cool and New Special could possibly become THE meta for a while, like you can't play Wynncraft PvP at all if you don't have one or two of these. This is a balancing problem, but it would affect a lot of player's inventories.
-This could release with a SHIT ton of bugs, making a lot of players lose a lot of valuable items.
In order to prevent this, lots of testing should be done. Exploits should probably also be found to prevent a new duping glitch or whatever.

    VII. The Actual Conclusion.
Anyways, if you've gotten this far, thanks for reading all of this.
Please bombard me with criticism - I honestly don't care. I want my suggestion to be the very best and polished it can be, which you can help me with.
If there's anything I missed or didn't explain enough, please tell me.

    Hope you enjoyed my suggestion.

also if you haven't noticed this suggestion's colors are all arranged in a rainbow
    coolio

VIII. Absolutely nothing, I just want to force green as a "title" color because I like it.
I guess we can call it "Comments."?

I've always liked the concept of designing your own weapon, there's no real downside to adding diversity and build streamlining into the game, as long as the people making the game know what they're doing. (Oh, wait, lol).
What I don't like is a set number of recipes, this prevents my previous statement, why wouldn't they just make the items and release them into the game's drop system?

What they need is an algorithm that takes into consideration the tier and type of the materials used, and pump out a set of Ids and damage onto an item.

The crafting GUI is not possible without mods.
Swarms where removed due to lag. Your swarm idea would blow the server apart together with the new stuff (lag) added since they were removed.
    So, no.

Explain how they did the shop GUI then.
You could just use two items with giant textures, just like the shop.
    Not exactly a swarm.
Probably something that takes place in a seperate world, to avoid most lag.
