World Boat Reskin

First off, I wasn't sure if this should be put in "questions" or "suggestions" since it's not a fully developed idea. @SaltyPhox
Just like, report move the thread if you think it belongs in "Suggestions".

This is a brief idea I had awhile back. Right now in Wynncraft, we just ride in giant wooden buckets which does look pretty crappy, so, I was thinking that if it were possible, just reskin the Minecraft boats in Wynncraft to kind of look similar to a kayak maybe with indigenous-inspired designs. I say "indigenous-inspired" because obviously you don't want to appropriate indigenous culture, even if it is a block game-maybe just make it look like a villager kayak with paints resembling an emerald or a big nose.

You could have different designs (and maybe stats) for different boats depending on where the boat was bought. So, if you bought a boat from Nemract, it would look like a traditional row boat (one seater of course). If you bought a boat from Pirate Cove, it could be a small sailboat with a black sail with a skull and crossbones-maybe you need this boat to gain access to Galleon's Graveyard. I'm not sure how this could workout, but maybe if you bought a boat from somewhere around Rodoroc, it would look as it was forged from iron and it could allow you to ride a boat in lava-this idea is a bit much though.

Right now, even though people rarely use boats, there are a few parts in the game where a boat is helpful, maybe even make them more relevant in gameplay. Before any of this, I actually need to know if you can make a custom 3D model for boats in Minecraft.

Obviously, boats are probably the lowest priority (if it ever is a priority), so it's almost a low as "we need a new class". Can we just refrain from; "It's not needed", it's a suggestion, kind of.

 

Alright, to start things off, there are two topics here. Is it possible to reskin boats, and should and how do we do them? All suggestions go, the reason "I want different updates" is not acceptable as to why you voted no. So, the question still remains, question ot suggestion?

 

They would need to fix boats in other versions first. Anything other than 1.8 you sink. To see some reskins, you have to be in 1.9 or higher.

 

Mmm, I support the idea if it is possible. No more wooden buckets!

No need to be rude? I'm only saying before you start dreaming of the what ifs, they have to fix boats or this feature would be useless.

 

Alright, I have no side for or against this 'suggestion.' (In apostrophes because it's in questions section.) I am just trying to tell you that it belongs in both subforums.

 

Something's that frustrating that I've noticed already that a lot of people like to state the obvious. It was still kind of obvious though. Sorry.

There's one big problem here. I don't believe you can do anything to a ship past changing it's texture. This problem could be circumvented using armour stands, but knowing how glitchy boats are, and always will be, that'd probably end up looking even worse.

Different stats doesn't seem necessary; the Seaskipper and Wavebreaker exist so that you don't have to use boats as much. No need to start encouraging them again. However, different, rarer, skins could work nicely as a visual and as collector's items.

Mainly, you need to find out if it's possible to really remodel the boats. Other than that, cut out a bit of the fat and replace it with details. No ifs or maybes.

 

Ok ok, I get what you mean and I agree. No way in hell armour stands are a viable option. (I got the rest)

 

afaik you can change the texture but the shape will stay as it is.
