I'm just going to say this first:

These ideas may be good or just downright crappy. I tried my best to emphasize my ideas for Dern to use possibly in development (or if already in construction, add on). Even if you won't do Dern for ages, these could be some helping ideas for the future.

To start out, the opening level for the providence should be at least level 60, as the Dernel Jungle starts around that level (I know that they're not related, but to keep a elaboration on level linearity per area. Like how the area around gavel is level 40). If the development teams ever so desires, maybe increase maximum level to Level 150?

For quests , there should be a multitude of them. About 25-45 would do, but if you think that is too much or too less, please tell me in the replies and I will change it as soon as possible. Quests should be spread out, to make use as the area as much as possible. Maybe just in towns should have 2-4 quests in one major town.

    Here is some quest ideas:

A madman who thinks he is a prophet is slaughtering the livestock of the local farmers in hopes it will be bring despair and a god. Will the hero be able to stop the madman from prevailing?

A organization of rebels against the corrupted Dern "government" recruits you and encourages you to siege the capital, will you be able to succeed?

When you enter an area of Dern you wake up suddenly in an alternate reality where the right is wrong and the wrong is right, will you escape?

You find old skin of a dragon and wonder, does this dragon still exist somewhere?

You try to enter a temple but a mysterious voice tells you to bring your offering. Figure out what the offering is and bring it to the temple entrance, then explore the inside.

You attempt to enter the Capital City but is kicked out the second you enter. You hear a story of a person who has a way to sneak in and quote "Fit In" with the others. Find the man and ask for his secrets.

You go to the dock of The Waters of Poison and a hand drags you into the depths. You wake up in a very strange shrine. Will you escape the shrine or will your captors find you?

Legend has it that a section of The Breathless Tundra will freeze you the moment you enter its blizzard. Find a way to get protection from the blizzard and then find the blizzard's secret.

You attempt to climb the Plateau of Pomenthi but a invisible barrier blocks your entry. Who created this barrier? Why is it there? What is inside the Plateau that must be locked up?

A werewolf, seemingly immune to wolf's bane and silver terrorizes a village. You work with a doctor to find a way to kill this terror.

You encounter an old ruined city covering in corruption poison. When you go through it, there are many memoirs and flashbacks. Why do you have these flashbacks? Did you by any chance have a connection with the ruins?

Corrupted Sentinels have completely engulfed a small village in sorrow and despair. Rid of the epidemic of the Sentinels and bring hope to the city.

In the Pure Darkness, one section in particular turns you back immediately. What lies inside that the force is guarding?

The players break a law in Dern and because the government is pure evil, they're pursued by the royal guards to apprehend and possibly execute the player. With this problem, the player has to go in hiding. Will they be able to fix the problem? Or should the player be brave and be the monarchy's prisoner? And if he/she is captured, how will the player escape?

A religious cult has taken over a town and converted the people inside. Will you be able to free their minds before they spread their cult to the rest of the providence?

The player makes a foolish move and steals a treasure from a temple. When he does, the temple entrance locks. Find a way out before the poison kills you.

You enter the Dern Castle and find that getting to the sanctum will be much harder than you would think. Infiltrate the castle and battle for your life, the life of others, and the providences.

You enter the sanctum to finally end the destruction, sorrow, despair, and all of the evil the monarchy has caused... the fate of the entire world rests into your hands and you must defeat the monstrous leader inside the Sanctum.

For providence geography, there should be 7 major towns and about 10 minor, a total of seventeen total towns. The corrupted land should be split into many sinful and negative things such as sorrow, destruction, despair, sloth, greed, etc (I got the sin ideas as Dern according to lore is a major source of evil in the Wynn providence, and it seems that each so far providence (maybe not Corkus*). The main other theme than corruption should be ancientness, since Gavel is mythical, Wynn is dark and light combined in my opinion, and Corkus is steampunk. There should be a lot of temples and ancient ruins spread throughout.

*Even though I haven't been to Corkus (Under leveled), I theorize that Corkus is pride. Because everyone would either you disagree or agree, tell me your thoughts also in the replies if you would like!

A ideal map of the providence is below for reference. A key is also listed below said map (My drawing skills are poor, but this is a concept map for Dern). The map is probably too large, but this can be changed IF this somehow goes into actual development. A basic map probably for Dern. The level area estimates will be wrong in one day or another. (Also, try to point out the easter egg names!)

Descriptions of Ideal Areas of The Providence of Dern

    T
he Corrupted Forest would be the likely starting area of newcomers to the providence. They would embark on their first quests of Dern and encounter the strange of the providence. The forest would be similar to The Dark Forest, but it's mixed with Dernel Jungle and a lot of corruption looking builds.

Pure Darkness is what the name of the location is: A complete black void (Or cloud per say) over this big section of the providence. There is a sky of black and there is barely any light in the first place. Think of it like the Lost Woods in The Legend of Zelda series (or a better version of this in Zelda is the ruins in Breath of The Wild). There will be many quests again here, but less in the 2 minor towns to encourage players to explore the Darkness.

Bier-Gotten Mountains (one of the anagram names!) is a corrupted mountainious area. There will be fewer quests than most providences, as this area may be quite boring. There should be multiple mountain peaks and one of the towns should be wrapped around the tallest peak.

Odod Cliffs is basically what it means: The cliffs of the mountains. At the bottom is a field of complete danger. Both towns will be on the edge of the mountains, particularly the major town would be in a cave with some of it on the cliff. There would be a large road as a cliff that leads to the other town.

The Eye of Corruption is the highest leveled area in the entire providence. The seat of the Dern Providence's torn monarchy. The area around the city is a bumpy hill plain, with the occasional dead tree and camp. The mobs here are the guards of the kingdom and
the strongest corrupted mobs. A lot of structures here are just poisonous to the touch and will damage the victim in contact. The city here is the considered "capital" of the providence. It's heavily guarded and will require a quest to enter freely. At the epicenter of the corruption and malice, a HUGE castle stands, holding many quests and one quest that will be a possible ultimate test to all who wants to face it (Level 100 quest). That quest will be located at the Sanctum entrance and starts automatically if you enter the Inner Sanctum.

The Plateau of Pomenthi (I know I misspelled it on the map, but there's no turning back) is a steep walled area with a town in the center. The place is a major source of corruption and multiple powerful mages had to put a barrier around the plateau so nobody can enter and die from the poisonous corruption. If you're able to actually get through the barrier. The area is full of ruins and some of the more powerful mobs in the providence. The city in the center is a place where the magic humans worship and keep the barrier strong. If the barrier is ever destroyed, it could possibly be a reason for the end of the world as we know it.

The waters of poison is a very dangerous place in the providence. The waters will corrupt and kill anyone who comes into contact. This is the reason why the towns that haven't fallen to the corruption poison are in a mode of drought. The only way they can get water is from the other providences, thanks to the corrupted god named Korsai. In the Poison Sea there is a city that has been split into two dimensions from the extreme amounts of corruption poison. The alternate dimension is very corrupt and evil. Some people say that the town's alternate dimension is actually a rift to the future. Throughout the sea there is a few small islands containing treasure and other valuable items.

Ebernie Plains is a large open area where the ground is covered in corruption and death. The evil monarchy has also heavily guarded and militarized this area, as uprisings has occurred. That explains why there's only 2 towns in such a ruined area, and why there is a decent amount of ruins that look very similar of towns.

The River of The Dead is exactly what it sounds. The rivers are filled with corpses of the monarchy's and the corruptions' victims. The only way to cross the river without catching disease is by taking a boat owned by a River-crosser. The river has cut off the two towns and caused the smaller one to begin dying from lack of resources. This is also a militarized area since the towns have both protested and fought against the government.

Finally, the Breathless Tundra is another starting area for players. The area's cold air has frozen an average of 3,219 per year, which to Dern's estimated population, is very high. The area has barely any ruins or villages since it's too cold to construct, but one town has somehow made home on the edge of the tundra. Legend has it that one area will freeze you in less than a second of entering it.

onclusion, for now: This is/will be a huge network of Dern suggestions. In the future, there will be more sections to this thread on specific areas, enemies, towns, quests, etc. Mainly, the ones who critique this thread at this point have the complete right to help me on my quest of this thread.

Yeah I think I can agree that Corkus would be pride. They feel so good that they have all the technology and such great inventions that that lead to their own failure

Given the fact that you're not a developer and have no clue what their system is or what they want to do, you're really not qualified to suggest things for the future of this size. Nobody is.

Agreed, but I think everyone should be able to suggest a complimanium. I also want the providence idea to be team effort. Aka bring ideas for quests and such.

That would be nice, but as of right now we have no idea what Dern will be about. We don't know if it will have any quests other than the storyline, or have any real cities.

It simply doesn't make sense to suggest features for something we know nearly nothing about.

True. I don't desire this be the providence, but this be a good idea starter and such for the further future. I don't expect this to go through in AGES or at all, but still this can be useful.

    Okay I have an idea.

The quest is a level 74 quest called: Leaving the Darkness

You talk to the mayor of the town (In the Pure Darkness area, the town above the 'lvl 70' mark)
    Meeting him he says:
"How did you get here, this place is run over by the corruption."
"Oh.. You're here to help. Well then , let's get started."
"Our little town has been overrun by creatures made from pure shadows, killing our soldiers before they are even spotted."
"We need to get our people to safety."
"I need you to talk to the general of our army, he'll explain you what to do"

QUEST(Head to the barracks and meet General Wilhelm.)

    Talk to Wilhelm
"Who are you, I haven't seen your face around here."
"Oh.. Here to help I see? Well then."
"As you may have already heard, our town is dying."
"We need to take our citizens to a saver town, we were thinking about the one near the Corrupted forest entrance (the one in the corrupted forest area)"
"Find as many citizens as you can and bring them to the gate."

QUEST(Find 8 citizens and bring them to the gate)

    Wilhelm speaks up:
"Alright time to get you people to safety, stay close and don't lose track."
You are joined by 4 guards and Wilhelm.

QUEST(Bring the citizens to safety by follow the road)
Note: During your walk through the 'Pure Darkness' are, you have Blindness 2 (going with the 'not seeing your enemies' theme)
Also monsters are lvl 74-76 int the area. They feed on other peoples's fear and gain strength that way.
    The citizens move at the

Making it to the border between the 'Pure Darkness' and the 'Corrupted Forest', a soldier screams:
    "RUN! MORE ARE COMING!"
turning around you see huge waves of shadow creatures heading your way. (They are now level 78 because people are scared. The citizens also move twice as fast now so keep up)

Making your way through the giant waves of monsters you reacht the safe town.
"OPEN THE GATE!" A soldier screams.
The gate opens slowly and you have to fight of more monsters.

(If you want a boss fight read this)
After killing the waves of monsters, a cutscene happens.
A giant shadow 'grows' over the area, making everyone even more scared.
From the shadow a giant creature rises. (lvl 85 boss)
???:"YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I'LL TAKE DOWN THIS TOWN AND GROW EVEN STRONGER."
    Wilhelm:"DEFEND THE TOWN, SOLDIERS!"

QUEST(Kill the boss and bring a 'shadow essence' to Wilhelm as prove of its death.)

    Speak to Wilhelm.
"Thank you soldier. Thanks to your help our people are save now."
"We'll get them to rest and then head out into the Dernel Jungle."
"And don't worry, we'll make it through there. Those beast there are that strong, haha."
"Here take this as a reward for helping us."

I may have an idea for the ultimate quest. The one to stop the corruption. (It might be to difficult)
But you mentioned that all provinces have there own Sin. Gavel: Greed, Corkus: Pride, Wynn: Envy, Fruma: Lust. (You mentioned this once)
But the idea is that you have to bring 7 items (1 for each sin) to an altar located at the Eye of Destruction before you can even start the quest.
Items must have something to do with a sin.
Gavel has the Ring of Greed: Merchant Ring (lvl 84 Legendary I think)

Then again, obtaining 7 legendary weapons might be to hard.
