Rework The Boss Fights

Should bosses be changed to be fast paced like players?

    Alright so I noticed something about our boss fights... They're slow. Really slow. I mean, I can beat Amadel at level 70 (Eassssssy) but it'll take like 10 minutes of circling.

    I think it should take me 1 minute without circling but I should have a build 10 times better.

    What am I getting at?
    Mobs (More specifically, bosses) should have higher stats but lower health. For example, here is my reworked Amadel:

    Health: 35000 (Instead of a hundred k)
    640/4s Lifesteal
    155% Exploding
    4300/3s Poison
    (Skillpoints for Level 100)
    125 Dexterity
    55 Intelligence
    20 Defense
    46% Spell Damage(Cooked)
    +21 Spell Damage(Raw damage)
    580 DPS

    He also uses teleport as a spell that should do player level damage so instead of doing 10%-20% Teleports they should do 100% damage

    Also, try to make him attack like a player (Fast with variety of attacks)

    **Also, if it is impossible to give mobs stats like this, you should make it possible. I know its easier said than done, but it would make the game wwayyyyy more fun.

    Igbar's suggestion that's supposed to be implemented is about improving boss fights. All we can do is wait for them to actually do it.

    We have improved boss fights... Compare things like Orange Wybel and all the dungeon bosses to Bob. They're not just bullet sponges now, they have unique mechanics made possible by command blocks and our mob system.
    We can't give mobs identifications, and at 35k HP a player could kill him in about 20-30 seconds with a lv70 DPS build...

    If we make amadel fight as equally fast as a player (With spells n shit) then amadel is going to eath the player in 20-30 seconds also. Fast paced fights are more fun. Also, lemme boost the damage

    And someone told me Amadel has high lifesteal so uhh

    Im pretty sure mobs can get identifications

    I'm not saying that bosses haven't been improved; I'm just fairly certain that Igbar's suggestion hasn't been implemented completely yet. Then again, I haven't played much, so it's possible I just haven't seen it.

    We literally can't do that. The variables we can set are these:

    Level
    AI Type
    Maximum health
    Regeneration(restores X health per 10 seconds)
    Minimum XP
    Maximum XP
    Minimum Damage(neutral by default, can add raw specific element values as well separate from these)
    Maximum Damage
    Attack Rate(attacks per second)
    Movement Speed
    Vision(how far away the mob will aggro)
    Mob Spawned on Death(this is how we do forms)
    Number of mobs spawned
    Spells(Determines usable mob spells from a list. We used to not have this functionality, being limited to one spell a mob.)
    Spell Cooldowns(Cooldown before choosing another spell, in seconds, with 10% variance. It's tied to the spell order, so METEOR, METEOR, MULTIHIT and 5, 5, 10 would mean the Meteors have a 5 sec cooldown and the Multihits has a 10 sec cooldown.)
    Spell Damage(% damage modifier per hit for spell damage. Chosen RANDOMLY. Going with the above example, 200, 200, 20 would not mean the Meteors deal 200% and the Multihits 20%. It would mean there's a 2/3 chance for a spell to inflict 200% damage per hit and a 1/3 chance for it to inflict 20% per hit.)
    Sustained Knockback(how much knockback the enemy takes. 100 is base, 0 is none, 200 is double, -100 is they move back towards the attack, etc)
    Gravity(this is how we make Golden Avia/some of the Uth mobs fly. Uppercut and Multihits totally break it by making the mob fly upwards infinitely)


    Our AI Types are as follows:

    None: Only idles.
    Melee: Follows player to do melee attack(contact damage)
    Ranged: Follows player to do ranged attack(projectiles)
    BurstRanged: Shoots 10 projectiles at once like a shotgun blast towards player.(projectiles)
    RapidRanged: Shoots 5 projectiles quickly before attackrate delay is factored in.(projectiles)
    Crawl: Move towards player for 1.5-2 seconds, then stop for 1.5-2 seconds(contact damage)
    Charge: Charges directly towards player for 1.5 seconds, going past and then turning around, like a rushing bull(contact damage)
    Berserk: Attacks everything nearby, except other Berserks(contact damage)
    BerserkRanged: Attacks everything, except other BerserkRanged(projectiles)
    Guard: Guard and attacks aggressive mobs getting into their vision, then go back to their spot(contact damage)
    RangedGuard: Same as guard, but ranged.(projectiles)
    Ally: Similar to guard, but has no specific spot to return to and will just wander(contact damage)
    Protect: Will follow a player and attack hostile mobs if they get close(contact damage)
    Neutral: Won't attack until attacked first(contact damage)
    NeutralRanged: Won't attack until attacked first. Glitched slightly, automatically shoots a projectile each time they are hit ignoring normal attack rate(projectiles)
    Jumper: Like melee, but will jump all the time(contact damage)
    JumperRanged: Like Ranged, but will jump all the time(projectiles)
    Scared: Will always run away from player.
    Support: Like protect, only they follow other mobs instead and attack you. Will not follow other supports(projectiles)
    Retreat: Will attack normally, but acts Scared whenever hit for 2-3 seconds(contact damage)


    Our spell options are Charge, Teleport, Arrow Storm, Multihits, Flame Thrower, Vanish, Heal, Slowness, Weakness, Push, Pull, Meteor, Spiderweb, and Self-Destruct. All but Meteor, Spiderweb, and Self-Destruct have a "heavy" variant that's stronger. Arrow Storm is bugged so that no matter what all its arrows deal 100% damage. Vanish doesn't do anything except make mobs trail smoke for now, and before this update, Multihits and Flamethrower inflicted far more damage than they should've.


    THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TO WORK WITH. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE. NOT A SINGLE THING MORE. I HAVE LAID OUR CARDS ON THE TABLE AND WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT WE HAVE. ASKING FOR ANYTHING ELSE IS POINTLESS BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE IT.


    I WISH we had more options, but right now, we just flat-out don't.

    I have, and it's up to Jumla to actually add it, no matter the ideas we have. Something that was actually added just the other night was the attackable tag, which prevents mobs from taking damage from player attacks. They get knocked around still, but they can only take damage from environmental factors and other mobs. We haven't had a chance to put it on anything yet though, but it doesn't really add anything to a combat scenario that a mob with a bazillion health and regen wouldn't, and even this has taken a really long time for Jumla to code. We're waiting on the almighty refactor, where Jumla is going to unspaghetti his code so it's not so much a pain to work with. Once that happens hopefully we'll be able to do a lot more cool stuff, but until then, we're essentially stuck with what we have.

    Didnt they already have this in the Gavel release in the airship above deltas? The mob cant take damage (This just got off track)

    The only reason that mob "couldn't take damage" was because it was surrounded by barriers...

    So that's why I've noticed patterns in certain mobs like Nii Slayer
    I noticed that with Archer and I think matryoshka idol

    Nope. The spell they choose is random from the lot. Using the METEOR, METEOR, MULTIHIT example, each time they charge a spell, there's a 2/3 chance for it to be Meteor and a 1/3 chance for it to be Multihit. There's no way for us to set specific combos.

    Well I guess it's just luck that it seems to go pull, pull, multihit with enough time for me to dodge then
