Ok so, I know that this thread will already get a lot of hate just did the title but just hear me out. Making a main quest for Wynncraft will stagnate the game for a lot of players faster.

What I mean by this is that after players finish the main story line, they will get bored of the game and it will become stale (not for everyone but for a lot).

I realized this because I just finished horizon zero Dawn (great game BTW if you wanna pick it up) and unsurely after I finished the story, I was satisfied, I don't want to play that game anymore really. This may be on account of my play style but I did a total of 2 side quests, the main quest, and 7% of the total achievements unlockable in the game, and I feel like I finished the game.

Adding a main storyline line will give Wynncraft an “end” and that's where the problem was I think. If Wynncraft “ends” I won't feel like I need to do every quest to get the most out of the game, just the main ones.

There are a couple workarounds to this however where you can still have a main story, but it won't have a sense of urgency that is so important to major quests like this would be.

-you could make different parts of the main quest split up similar to Wynn excavation.

-you could make the quests really getting and take a long time (wouldn't recommend this one)

-make it so the main quest doesn't “end” per say and instead ends of on something like “keep exploring this world in my place” or something that I'm sure someone else could write far better.

The main point of this is do not give Wynncraft a definitive end, because probably 80% of players would drop the game after finishing it.

P.S. even though I finished the game after 21 hours of casual gameplay, still a great game, just short (horizon zero)

P.P.S. I wrote this on my phone at 1:00 in the morning on Google docs because my phone won't sign into Wynn on mobile because I can't click the login link :( but because of this please excuse any bad spelling or grammar, I just needed to write this down lol.
Edit: was able to log in, but some buttons don't work :( for logging in

Well once you reach lvl 95+ but that's already a ton of gameplay, if you can finish the main quest too fast, people will leave earlier.

They have probably been working on the main storyline for 1.5 years+
You want the content team to just delete all their hard work? That's not going to happen.
This is an MMORPG, The storyline isn't the only thing worth doing in it, and I doubt they will let you be able to level enough to continue from the storyline quests alone.

Well don't just delete all the work but impling it in a way where players don't feel like they never have to play again after finishing the main quest, Wynncraft is supposed to feel like a living, breathing, organism that is always changing and adapting and it's one of the reasons I love it so much, but I'm so afraid tbh of them adding this main storyline and people quitting at level 80 because they feel like they are done.

Well, I don't think people left after beating Bob's Reincarnation pre-Gavel. Even with the "end" signified by that fight, Gavel arrived with a new thing for the player to combat, and as such, story.

Hmm, I read it, and I could feel your love to the wynncraft..
I understood what you said: 'Adding main storyline will make an end', but here's my opinions.
The first thing I thought was, is this even gonna work? The Content Team is going to add the main storyline, as Grian stated in this thread. Most of (actually, every) quest existing right now is technically 'Side quests' or 'Mini storylines', I suppose. Wynncraft is going to have 4 provinces ultimately, and the main storyline is most likely going to be about the great journey of the player among all provinces.
Wynncraft is not a game that can be finished in a week. The player will be learning the game system, the great community of Wynncraft, and what's happening on the Wynncraft world story, through many experiences of their quests and explorations. This might be a bit of spoiler, but the Secret of Aldorei quests tell us roughly about what happened to both Wynn/Gavel provinces, and why monsters exist. We will be learning the deep story on the Wynncraft world, and the player will be more and more addicted to the story (game) as they continue playing.
The main storyline will just help that. Players will find their own funs, as they proceed the game to around mid-game. If they didn't, that's it. They're just not really fond of MMORPG.
What I wanted to say is, adding main storyline will not make more players quit, but it even could attract more players as it completes. This might be a different story if Wynncraft was a big server that owns 50,000+ players at the time like Hypixel, but it's not. I personally want Wynncraft to complete the story, it will be so great as far as I can tell from what I know from the existing features or exploring hidden lores.
And yea, it is pretty difficult to make a main storyline that actually ends itself but it still makes player think they want to keep playing. For that, let's just believe in the great content team, they already have made this great server from nothing. As myself playing Wynn for over 2 years, Wynncraft is really addicting, it attracted me even though I didn't understand a piece of English words.

uh, I didn't mean to write this many or offend you, but that's what I personally think and why I play Wynncraft. I hope you can understand it.

I've also been paying Wynn for a long time now (even tho I took a break :( ) but I've seen many many many fantastic Dev teams mess up games, even AAA titles like unspoken games (cough mw3 cough) and Wynn definitely has one of the better Dev teams I've seen but like you said it's gonna be challenging to make a quest that ends but also doesn't feel like it ends so that's mostly what I'm afraid of
    PS. I'm loving this criticism

Well ya but what about casual people? They make up a ton of the player base (casual as in they don't have any accounts over lvl 70) they might only want to do the main quest and nothing else (tbh I'm guilty of this in a lot of RPGs)

    this should go in feedback. as for the original post;

WynnCraft isn't finished yet. The CT and Admins are hoping to develop a more immerse story to WynnCraft, after Dern and Fruma are fully completed. Heck, we might not even get any of those two! Just being there for lore could still mean it's complete. Just, not a lot of effort put into it, which it's current state.

If Wynncraft was only an RPG, then having a main storyline would probably mean people stop playing after the storyline. However, it isn't; it's also an MMO.

Essentially, Wynn isn't only played by people to get to the end of the game, but to have fun with other players. This, on top of the fact that there's so much more to do than just follow the story, would lead to most players not quitting immediately after they finish the storyline. Especially if they didn't do any of the side-quests.

To top it all off, there's always the potential for new updates. Players will inevitably stick around while waiting for the newest features to be released.

TL;DR even if a main storyline was added, it's doubtful that any more people would leave than already do.

The main storyline quests are obviously going to be spaced out between levels, there's gotta be 20+ quests there, they aren't gonna have it one after the other.
Also, they will be releasing new updates, it won't have an end, not until the year 3608 when Dern is released anyways.

However if they could make the main storyline quests all ridiculously long and hard to complete that'd be great.
