I've seen far too many new players simply just ask common questions such as "how do i get unstuck pls halp" or literally anything in this FAQ thread over here, without checking the "Are You Stuck" thread or said FAQ thread first.

I can't really blame them though. When you're stuck, the thought of losing all your Wynncraft progress because you're trapped somewhere can be very nerve-racking. It's probably why they click that "Create Thread" button as quickly as possible.

Plus, these said help threads are also very mixed in with the rest of the other threads on the forums. Our eyes tend to gravitate towards the center of an object if there's no significant focal point, which is basically what you have here.


Notice how the "Are You Stuck" thread has a blue tag - the same as all the text of the forums. It's hard to distinguish it from the other threads.

Furthermore, notice once more that the Official Event threads (Content Contest stuff and the Mini-Events thing) have a tag that stands out because nowhere else in the forums can you see a color like this that stands out so well against the other threads.

This is probably why you see a lot of newer players ask these frequently asked questions so many times, and also why we have to direct them to these help threads. They just don't stand out enough.

The best solution to this problem?

1) Highlight these threads through text or background changes.
If possible, give the "background" of it a different color - and this is what I mean by "background."

This would make these certain threads be a major focal point for newcomers when they go to ask their questions.

If highlighting backgrounds isn't possible on XenForo, try what /r/tf2 is doing on their subreddit - changing the colors of the names of the stickied threads, like this.

This also makes these threads stick out from all the other stuff, however it's probably not as effective as the other method. It also may not work as well due to the inclusion of multiple themes in the forums, meaning we would need to add a different color for each theme. This problem is very minor though and could probably be done with XenForo's engine.

2) Make some new tags that can only be used by moderators.
These tags would be a much different color than what's used for the normal threads, meaning more people would look at these threads.

This really isn't necessary in the Questions section, as the FAQ thread is the only thread with a tag. For some reason, newbies won't see it though.

This method probably should only be used as a "last resort" if the other options don't work, since they don't make the threads stand out as much.

TL;DR - Newbies seem to not see important help threads at first glance, so changing the colors of various aspects of said threads should help new players go in the right direction.
