Revamped Donor Perks

Disclaimer 1: People seem to be taking my jokes a bit seriously. Remember, this post is not only made for good fun, but also to raise awareness to the idea of buffing certain donor ranks.

Hey there.

As a proud owner of the Veteran tag, I have seen things many have not. You could say, well, that I have been around the block a few times... (Pun intended, dang I'm as smooth as an obsidian block).

For those of you who don't know, there was once a time where donors got 2x the XP.

For those of you who still don't follow, 2x XP meant you get more XP. A lot more XP for that matter.

Yes, this was a bit over powered, and the EULA changed donator ranks forever. Thanks Mojang, we respect and value your decisions to cripple various servers to make it "more fair" for users. We also respect that this was not primarily in the favor of the players, but in the favor of yourselves, and your indulgence in greed.

Now let's not talk about the EULA in this post. AT ALL. Please, it makes me cry a little bit on the inside each time it is mentioned.

What we should talk about though is the current donation ranks this wonderful network holds. The word "donation," means "Something that is given to a charity, especially a sum of money..." (1 Merriam-Webster). Some synonyms include "gift, contribution, present, pledge, handout, grant" (1 Merriam-Webster). No where in either of those does it mention getting something in turn for sparing some money.

Let's face it, though. Chivalry is dead. When was the last time you saw someone wear a suit of armor? For those of you confusing real life with the game, this is referring to real life. Sorry for any misconceptions, flame wars, or international debates this question may have caused.

We need stuff in exchange for our dinero.

We, as human beings, like stuff. Stuff makes us feel good. It makes us feel contempt, and safe.

That XP multiplier? Brilliant. Had me jumping out of my seat, tugging at my dad's sleeve, pleading for a rank. It's coming out of my allowance, you say? Who cares... I just want stuff! Especially digital, in-game stuff that I truly have no use for!

After rejoining the server from a long break, (I got stuck in a hole somewhere and was too lazy to ask for help on the forums), I found that new donation ranks had been added. (So much for that awesome assassin class, amiright?). I also found some subtle disappointment. Where was the VIP area? I bought my first horse there. I named him Beefcake. His moto was "Where's the beef?™" Beefcake died btw... thought you all should know.

All in all, the donator perks are lame. There you go. 420 blazin' words later, I said it.

With recent complaints towards the change in store prices, why not add a little something? Perhaps it is increasing the amount of crates we receive daily, or their value. I mean, this server is terrific. They can surely come up with additional content to satisfy our greed- er, our needs without breaking the EULA.

Conclusion: I would also like to take a moment of complete seriousness. Salted, I truly admire your determination to keep this network alive and I believe you are an amazing owner. This is not an easy field, and I'd know that. I've probably had about five servers fail in the course of three years. Please consider taking any suggestions posted in this forum, but do not think you have to. Many of us donate to just help the server... I myself am donating for VIP+ tonight, whether ranks or improved or not. Remember... something that was never literally alive can't die. ;)

As for all of the rest of you reading this, feel free to post your thoughts about this topic, whether you support this idea or not, and any ideas you could have for the donation ranks. Make sure they are EULA friendly and would be fair to not only the server itself, but all the other players on it.

I tend to agree with this. Additional perks for the other ranks would be nice, but VIP is almost useless when compared to the cost.

 

Mojang didn't update the EULA for indulgence and greed - that doesn't make any sense.
Without the EULA, paying players are free to be given advantages over their peers and fellow players. This is what happens with World of Tanks (@Battleslay1000 and I know how Pay2Win-fucked up that's become). As a result, more people buy ranks to become more competitive. The server gets more money, so it expands, and thus pays more for hosting and sponsorship. Mojang makes tons of money from this, so why don't they do it?
It's for you.
It's for the little guy. The player who doesn't want to, or can't, pay to play. The player who plays the game for fun and whose dreams are crushed by a kid with his mommy's wallet.
Mojang wants to look out for this silent majority, and by improving the EULA, has done exactly that.

Now you're making a point against yourself. Isn't your entire suggestion being reimbursed for your "donation" - and isn't that exactly why these rules were created?
A true Wynncraft player never asks if their rank is "worth it". I bought VIP, not looking for the login alert, not looking for the totems, but trying to support a server that I love. Shouldn't that be enough?

Of course I would benefit from more totems.
Of course I would benefit from some free crates.
Of course I would benefit from whatever else you plan to add.
Yet, of course I would buy VIP again if there was nothing added to it.
It's the message Wynncraft sends to its playerbase, that they care about every single person who decided to dedicate themselves to this lovely server, that matters most.

The point of this post is to read my subtle rant, get that "I see what you did there" feeling every paragraph or so, and then reflect upon the server itself and the issue at hand at the end.

And you have no right to take away Battle's poll option just because he disagrees with you- If you want support, you have to expect criticism as well.

 

Criticism is hate, and that's what haters do. I don't mind it, it's the fact that you are going against what I specified in my post. The poll doesn't change as well. There's the door, feel free to let yourself out.

It isn't hate, it's pointing out flaws and telling you to fix them.
While I agree that VIP needs more, the other ranks are fine.
While I agree that people are going to expect things in return for their money, the server has to make it profitable so they can keep the server running.
None of this should be nor ever will be added.

Honestly, you should be happy that Wynncraft has donation perks to begin with. The point of a donation is to help support the server, not to purchase benefits.

 

No isn't, criticism is help, you give criticism if you support a concept.

I'm sorry, WHAT?! We aren't being robbed, we all chose to pay for the ranks, it's not like we were forced to! And losing the x2 XP perk wasn't Wynncraft's fault, it was Mojang's. If you're mad, complain to them, not us.

How many servers do you think actually follow the EULA, and how many servers do you think are actually punished? Mojang has better things to do than shut down servers. Just wondering, since you seem to know so much about this topic.
