World Bring Back Wizard Fortress: The Sequel [petition Thing][320 People Support][338 Vets]

Wizard Fortress was a great gamemode involving skill-based deathmatch reminiscent of Quake or Team Fortress 2. Fast-paced gameplay made it a fun place to just mess around and test out new strategies.

However, I did feel like Wizard Fortress was poorly implemented with the rest of the Wynncraft Network. It was a smaller minigame, which didn't exactly appeal to most of the Wynn playerbase, causing it to have not as many players as normal.
Now that we have a fair bit amount of players again, I feel like it would be a good choice to bring back WF in all its glory.

I do have some suggestions though.

1) Emphasize the midfight more.
Midfights are a huge thing in Team Fortress 2, where both teams rush out to the middle to partake in one huge battle for the ages. I think having everyone spawn in the same location (like a spawnroom or just in an area in medium proximity to the flag) would increase the skill aspect of this game more and less of the RNG.
Putting more of the important items in the middle would allow for strategic gameplay, like holding off the middle so your team can get the important items before pushing.

2) Upgrades.
Man, this was one of my least favorite parts about WF. You'd have people who had clearly played more than you and they had all the good upgrades on their weapons, when you just started and you're getting dominated by them.
I think having a "point system" where you get points for killing players/capturing flags/killing the flag carrier and using those points to buy temporary upgrades mid-game would be great. This would obviously encourage more strategy and teamwork, as a system could be implemented where points that you collect go to everyone on the team, similar to Team Fortress 2's co-op gamemode - Mann vs. Machine.

3) More dynamic map.
The original WF map was simple - three lanes and an underground flank led to the main flag room, with little to no height differences (except in the flag room).
I would like to see this be changed - reward people who take the high ground and encourage good positioning. Add a high ground flank so defenders don't have to constantly watch the single entrance to the flag area - the launch pad.
Speaking of launch pads, that was a good addition. Try to use them in conjunction with height differences, and you'll probably get some really fun and diverse gameplay.

That's all I have to say on the matter. To any devs/builders/etc who worked on Wizard Fortress, I hope you take my suggestions into account.

Looking back on it now, I wish I decided to play WF when I had the chance to a couple of years back. Count me in for the revival [^:

 

I 100% Support this. I really miss WF, and it was so unique with its multiple types of wand which really made you think about Wynn's magic. Add my signature to the petition!

 

WF was such a fun game, and seeing that stick in the server connect gui brings back that nostalgia.

The servers hosted for WF had some problems getting full later on, so financially speaking it's probably not that great of an idea.
