World [12 Supporters] Better Crate Reward Scrapping System

ok, so if you're anything like me and bought way too many crates looking for one crate reward, you know that once you have enough crate rewards, you tend to get...more than a bit of an fps lag spike when trying to scrap. i myself have over 500 total crate rewards (fuckin' skelehorse cloak after like 700 crates) and can't seem to scrap a single set of 5 rewards without getting a massive drop in framerate and even an increased risk of timing out.

so my suggestion is this, and it's very simple: allow the player to left-click on a reward to activate it, and right-click it to scrap it for [# Magic Dust] as according to the type and rarity of the reward.
so what's magic dust? oh, nothin' special, just a method of perhaps getting special cosmetics?

ok, ok, before you chew me out in the replies stating "ewwwwwwwwwww it's a horrible idea go back to the fires of mt. wynn where you belong", hear me out for a second. or a minute. or however long i start rambling for.

obligatory question, as i'm betting nobody gets the concept. as of right now, you can scrap 5 crate rewards of non-godly tier for 1 reward that's a tier higher than the rewards you scrapped. this is a decent system, yes, but it has its flaws. first and foremost, you're not able to scrap unwanted godlies as there is no tier above godlies (i should know...i have 4 orange wybels, not even joking, and i don't want them and can't trade them off or something). also, going back to what i mentioned before, you can end up with way too many crate rewards on your hands (again, i have upwards of 500), and thus you're probably going to have trouble scrapping them. so the solution is to have the items be scrappable individually --- including that extra pheonix bow you might have or maybe you just don't want that angel wings effect you just got, or any other godlies you don't find useful --- for magic dust. magic dust will allow you to purchase additional cosmetic items not obtainable from crates, hence widening the number of choices for those who might not like the existing cosmetics.

so what's the catch?
well, there's no point to giving people magic dust if you don't put a cap on it --- otherwise it'll just get all over them and everyone'll be able to fly.

...in seriousness, though, there should be a limit on how much of certain things you can get with mag dust. for example, you can only get 1 or 2 wolves, or 1 pet amadel (wither). also you only have to buy each magic-dust-exclusive weapon skin once, therefore you cannot and will not be charged if you attempt to buy a weapon skin again.

what if i misclick?
there is a confirmation window that will allow you to confirm or deny buying the specified item. simple as that. also, you won't be able to get to that confirmation window if you don't have enough magic dust for the item you want.

what kinds of items will be available to buy?
- definitely some unique weapon skins (if i knew what program to use to make some, i would make some to show off as an example)
- pets that aren't obtainable in crates, including those that were in the gold coin store --- just a few of the possible choices include a wolf, a wither, squiggles the squid, a red or gold wybel for all the wybel lovers out there (i'm pretty sure you can' t get one of either from crates --- correct me if i'm wrong) and a floating book.
- there's probably more ways to cloak your horse than just a skeleton cloak or zombie cloak, let's get some more variety up in here
- more particle effects not obtainable from crates
- mob totems, if that can be allowed
- probably some other stuff that i can't think of right now

so then what if i want one of the existing cosmetics? can i buy that with magic dust?
that's...to be covered at a later date.

I've never opened a crate in my life, but I like it because of the way you've fully explained this mechanic.

 

thanks. i try to make sure as many bases are covered as possible when i make suggestions...although in some cases that's much easier said than done, ha ha.

 

remove the bit about the juke box. its one of the main features of the ranks and shoudnt be removed or tampered with

I don't actually think there is. Without counting the various different colours of horses (Which would break the system of Colour = Tier if people could ride a brown that looks like a white (which people could scam with but that's not the point I'm making)) there's only four different types of horse: Donkey, Zombie, Skeleton and Mule.

 

eh, i suppose that's true, and there'd be a lot of questions to answer if i responded "just have the colors not be the colors used in horse breeding, and have the saddle still say the tier/base color of the horse."

inb4 those questions come up now that i've said it.

...although now that i think about it, it'd be kinda funny to just see someone going the speed of sound on a donkey :p

 

You could use nbt tags to probably retexture
Horses, and otherwise, you can also retexture mules and donkeys

this is actually a really good idea. i'm not sure about only being able to buy stuff not in crates, but yeah this is still a great idea
